Because I’m so behind in sewing, there won’t be a Thread Filled Thursday post this week.
However, there are a couple of photos, and they consist of the people that have made me happy this week.
Lately, I’ve been struggling to find reasons to smile (don’t worry, I promise to try NOT to turn this blog into depression central this year) and random things have made me smile this week.
Let’s begin shall we?
This. First of all, this little person is amazing. She’s so in tune with my emotions and feelings that it’s kind of scary. Any time I’m feeling down, she’ll come in and give me a hug and tell me that it’s going to be okay. The other day, while I was sitting on the couch staring into space, she asked me what was wrong. I told her nothing. Then she hit me with:
“Have you talked to Jesus about it?”
Now, while I realize that I am in a position of being married to a minister, I will go on record as saying, that I don’t talk to God about enough things. I really don’t. And to have a four year old call me out on it, well. It stung a little, but it also lets me know that our God looks out for us in the most amazing ways. A four year old gave me a reality check.
Anyhoo, back to the photo. The ladybug loves the Polka Dot Circus Afro song from the acid trip that isย movie Madagascar. This is a wig. It looks a little too natural and she donned it this week and sang the song.
This kid. He has been going through the breaks of walking that fine line of being a kid and turning into a teenager. He loves to laugh, and have fun, yet he’s still struggling with wanting to be more grown up than he should be. I wish that he would enjoy his time as a kid, because it will be over and he’ll be an adult all too soon.
Right now, he’s working with an internship program of sorts with his school called SPARK. This session, he will be working with an investment banker and learning about pensions, handling savings, and how to invest the money that he earns. All good stuff.
I didn’t get many photos of the twizzlers this week, but trust, they’ve had me laughing a little more than usual. Lil Miss is turning into a bit of a bossy Betsy, and true to form, Mr. Houseful has stated that she is walking in the footsteps of her older sister and mother. He also remarked at how much she favors my sister Jessica. THAT definitely made me smile.
Sir Twizzler, has received a new crib. One that he can not escape from yet. I’m happy. Seriously. You can’t imagine how weird it is to get up in the middle of the night to find that one of your kids is NOT in their room in a pitch black house. And then your realize the television is on. You go and check and you find:
Someone decided to tune into Qubo and fell asleep sometime before five in the morning. Lord only knows how long he was on the couch watching television. The smarts of these two year old children are just amazing.
And always, this guy can get a smile from me. Because he’s amazing. Wait, I forgot that this word was banned since the Oscars. He rocks, he’s awesomesauce, amazeballs, attractive, and a-ok.
Hopefully, as you enter this Thursday morning full fledged, you’ll reflect on those things that have made you smile this week.

Thanks Jackie! I wish that she were around to see it as well. Every single day, I do. However, I have a sneaky suspicion that she’s whispering in the ear of God at times. ๐

Your beautiful family makes me smile (and Sir Twizzler looks like such a big boy!). Thinking of you.
Natasha Nicholes says
Thank you Sarah! He is becoming quite a big kid! Thanks for coming through and for keeping me in your thoughts. ๐

A family that makes you smile is a precious treasure.
Natasha Nicholes says
It definitely is! Worth so much, and hopefully people make sure that they keep theirs in tact and protected.
Caroll says
Now you have put a smile on my face Oh, I so thought that was her hair too! I was about to say to you whatever you do, do not allow this baby to change it. Still cracking up about Houdini (you don’t mind if I call him that do you :)) Great post. Keep smiling you certainly have a lot to smile about.
Natasha Nicholes says
Ha ha! Houdini! I should use that from now on! He can escape ANYTHING, seriously! The ladybug LOVES having her hair done (as in finished.) but hates the process. Everyone will have to take their afro photos (except the cellist who has locs, and my husband who cuts his hair) and post them. Thank so much for coming through Caroll!

I don’t know what I’d do if my son escaped from his crib, turned on the TV and started chillaxing!
Natasha Nicholes says
๐ It definitely caught me off guard. However, he slept in for a bit the next morning, and I got some great work done. The small blessings.
Brandi says
What an amazing family you have. You are truly, truly blessed! Thank you for sharing and making ME smile!
Natasha Nicholes says
Thank you so much Brandi! I am definitely blessed, and sometimes I have to stop and realize just how much. Thanks for coming through.

Natasha Nicholes says
She’s definitely a little missionary. The Lord knew what he was doing when he blessed me with her! Thanks for coming through.
