Spider-Man: Far From Home Popcorn

Spider-Man: Far From Home Popcorn

This post sponsored Conagra but opinions are my own.

When you think of being far from home, I’m assuming popcorn isn’t the first thing you think of? Well, if you’re my son, it is. He thinks about popcorn ALL. THE. TIME, and the more flavors the better. So when we decided to have a movie night with Act II Popcorn as our snack, we wanted to take a whirl around the world to fit the theme of the movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home! Especially after me coming back home from Morocco last month, it was fun to think of “places” we wanted to visit, and the flavors we needed to make the bowls of fluffy goodness. SpiderMan: Far From Home Popcorn will be the talk of your house forever. Trust us.

Before thinking about the areas that we wanted to feature in our Spider-Man: Far From Home Popcorn recipes, we ordered ahead using Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup and headed to our local Walmart to pick up our ACT II Popcorn (Butter Lovers option was a must for this family). I wanted the process to be easy enough for all of the kids to do, so microwave popcorn it was.

Bonus: If you have Ibotta, there’s a $0.75 rebate on a 12 pack of Act II Popcorn in the app right now! Here are a few facts about the Butter Lovers popcorn you may not have known:

• Butter flavored popcorn
• 12 total popcorn bags (2.75 oz each)
• 140 calories per serving
• 100% whole-grain popcorn
• 0 g trans fat per serving

And for a bit of science/farm info on how popcorn pops, I’m putting on my master urban farmer hat. Popcorn is a whole-grain maize product, grown extensively in the corn belt states of the U.S like Illinois! It’s like corn-on-the-cob in appearance and cultivation, but only popcorn kernels are capable of popping. Popcorn’s ability to pop lies in the fact that the kernels contain a small amount of water stored in a circle of soft starch inside the hard outer casing. When heated, the water expands, creating pressure within, until eventually the casing gives way and the kernels explode and pop. This allows the water to escape as steam, turning the kernels inside out. The key to having more kernels pop is a constantly improved product. Throughout the years, popcorn processors have implemented significant hybrid popcorn seed research to continually enhance their product and create gourmet popcorn.

For our regions of flavor, we settled on Mexico, India, and Morocco – since I had just been immersed in the spices and tastings for a full two weeks. I’m pretty sure most home cooks with a flair for flavor will have most of the ingredients necessary for all of the pairings.

Mexican Popcorn

2 tbs mayonnaise (yes, I know)
2 tbs lime juice
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp chili powder
Cojita cheese to your liking
1 bag of ACT II Popcorn Pop the popcorn according to the directions.
Mix all ingredients together and then drizzle on top of the freshly popped popcorn. It’s a tangy savory flavor you won’t regret!

Indian Popcorn

1 tsp coriander
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp sweet curry
1 tsp chili powder
1 bag of ACT II Popcorn Mix dry ingredients together and toss together with popcorn in a bowl.

Moroccan Popcorn

2 tsp cumin
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 bag of ACT II Popcorn
Mix dry ingredients together and toss together with popcorn in a bowl.

Making these recipes also ensured that everyone would be quiet while watching the movie. We weren’t able to make it to the theater to catch Spider-Man: Far From Home so we needed movie theater rules for our movie night.

Make sure while you’re in Walmart, you pick up some Act II popcorn and your OWN Blu-ray copy of Spider-Man: Far From Home today!
