I think it’s obvious at the moment how obsessed I am with The Greatest Showman. I find myself commenting on every status message about it, and gushing about how I’ve essentially become the basic fan girl of Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron and Keala Settle. I love Zendaya for reasons, but outside of Rewrite the Stars and that incendiary look that she throws Zac Efron during This is Me she didn’t have a ton of voice time. The Greatest Showman soundtrack has been on heavy rotation since I had the good sense to buy it last year before viewing the movie.

If I’m being honest, I’ll have to say that the entire soundtrack is amazing, but I have clear favorites. In order – The Greatest Show, The Other Side, From Now On, and Come Alive are the four that I play without regard to my  husband feeling that I may be writing myself into stalkerville. This Is Me, Tightrope, and Never Enough are my trio of second most played numbers. Rewrite the Stars and A Million Dreams round out the rest of the album, and provide balance for my erratic dancing each and every single time I hear the bass drum and WOAH OH OH OH burst from my portable speaker that I’ve been known to take on errands. Yes, I’m that person. Also, shout out to Harmon Kardon for the wonderful bluetooth speaker that make me 2018’s version of Radio Raheem. Now all I need is a top hat, and a red embroidered jacket and I’m good to go. I swear on all that is good and holy I might dress up as Hugh Jackman dressed as PT Barnum for Halloween. Yes, you read that right. I’ll be HUGH JACKMAN playing PT Barnum.

I’m not sure WHAT it is about the entire soundtrack written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul that sends me right to the edge of wanting to join the next Broadway Musical as an extra, but it just does. Zac Efron’s The Other Side duet with Hugh Jackman in the pub was such a wonderfully choreographed piece that even my girls know it’s magic. Can we also talk about the bartender in that scene?  I mean, it takes talent to slide shot glasses on beat, AND serve them up six at a time. Then to have the nerve to sweep on cue? Amazing. Good thing they had choreographer Daniel ‘Cloud’ Campos take that role. He killed it and then some. When you’re negotiating contracts while throwing peanut shells, dancing on the bar and downing shots with Hugh Jackson, choreography is key.

The Greatest Showman

After careful research, I found out that Pasek & Paul wrote these songs BEFORE their LaLaLand fame, and I won’t ever really introduce them because of that movie. They’ll forever be burned into my memory as the geniuses behind one of my top five soundtracks. There aren’t even five soundtracks that I’m in love with. The Lion King is one, The Preacher’s Wife is another. To some, I’m not hard to please, to others, I’m SUPER picky. So now my top five is a nice round top three, and I can live with that for now.

Have you seen The Greatest Showman yet? If so, how many times have you seen it? I’m thinking we need to head to the theaters this week for a singalong. Ahem.

Also, I just got word that the DVD drops March 6th – which is how we’ll be celebrating Mr. Houseful’s birthday – no matter how crazy he thinks we are. By the way, don’t let his protests sway you. He absolutely ROCKS OUT Never Enough whenever it is allowed to play in rotation. One of these days I’ll get him when he’s humming it and cooking in the kitchen.

I watched this for the first time a month ago and have watched it at least 8 times. I am addicted. The songs are so good. My 2 favorites the bartender one and the Zac and Zendaya ones with the choreography...

We just watched this movie this past weekend. It was awesome. And now I really want to go to the circus museum in Sarasota too! :-)
