Date Nights Are the Best Nights #PotbellyPerks #GetAppy

Way back in the day (as the ladybug is so fond of saying) Mr. Houseful and I were just young high school sweethearts, with no jobs and hardly any money. Going on dates back then was a JOY because it meant that we had found funds to do what we wanted. One of the things that I looked forward to doing with him whenever we would hit downtown Chicago, was go to Potbelly Sandwich Shop. It was a restaurant that I had been introduced to by my friend Stephanie during my Junior year of high school, and I fell in love. I don’t know if it was the quirky way the shop was decorated, or the fact that it felt so warm and cozy and not completely like a fast food joint, but it became one of my favorite luxury lunch spots in my teens. The joy of Potbelly Sandwich Shop was increased exponentially with the addition of the Potbelly Perks App to my phone. I’ll tell you why. 

Our dates usually happen after we’ve fed the kids and put them to bed, so it kind of feels like we are having a real grown up date. However, having grown up dates during the week in our home means that we really need to be able to cram all types of quality time into a very short time span. 

Given that we’re always pressed for time whenever we DO go out, I found it awesome that Potbelly Sandwich Shop now has the Potbelly Perks App that lets the user jump the line, thus saving time, and frustration from NEEDING every single minute of your adult time away from responsibility and children. We ordered right before leaving our house, and gave them an anticipated pickup time, yes you CAN schedule ahead of time, and we set off for our time out. 

We ordered our favorite, while I ordered my favorite sandwich (The Wreck) in salad form. I should have added all of the great toppings to it, because it’s super easy, but my excitement at leaving the house on a Tuesday got the best of me. I’m super easy to please, did I mention that? When we got to our local shop, we jumped the line and went right to the register to grab our food. We didn’t have to pay because we already did through the app! We then headed to our favorite spot to eat, the booths! I mean, COME ONE, they’re awesome! 

My husband grabbed the Italian Sandwich in the Big size, a side of cole slaw and a drink, and I had my salad and a strawberry shake, complete with two straw cookies just like I remember. 

The great thing about now downloading Potbelly Perks is the fact that I earn a “smile” for every $2 spent. Those smiles add up to pretty sweet treats for me too! However, nothing is sweeter than time spent with my honey, and not having to waste it in line trying to figure out what we want, or wait behind someone who doesn’t know what THEY want.
