This important discussion on what wins me over is sponsored by Persil Laundry Detergent
It’s no secret. Mr. Houseful is in charge of laundry at our home. This happened right before we got married, and I was all too happy to fall right into line. Now. There were some things that I did have to teach him – like how to properly wash my undergarments (no machine drying) and that you ALWAYS have to check everyone’s pockets. After that, it was smooth sailing. There is just something about having a husband that doesn’t mind handling the laundry. ALL PARTS OF IT. The sorting, the washing, the folding, the putting away. It makes my life super sweet, and for that, I’m grateful.
One thing that Mr. Houseful is also great at is picking up laundry detergent that smells great AND gets the clothes nice and clean, however, I may have one-upped him this time around. I had the chance to try Persil ProClean (found in Walmart) and be the sole reason that our whites are whiter (true story) and we still smell good! Three different mediums of detergent were shipped to my home – power packs, power liquid and power pearls. They all work surprisingly well for different things.
Usually our laundry day is really a laundry week. Mr. Houseful throws a couple of loads in each day he comes home from work, and on days where he doesn’t have to go to work, he can go through as many as seven loads of laundry. We go through a lot of clothes, especially with little ones who enjoy playing dress up and tossing the “soiled” clothes into the dirty clothes bin. We’re getting better, I promise.
For the most part, Mr. Houseful has found the way to my heart. That’s cleaning through loads of clothes with unrecognizable stains from too many hours of playing with Dennis the dog, or outside in the back yard. Either way, he is king of the laundry pile. Our washer and dryer are in the belly of our home, otherwise known as the basement, and I’m not a fan. Until we finish it, I’m a bit reserved about going down into the depths of Nicholes manor unless I absolutely have to. Plus, spiders and centipedes, which I’m usually not bothered by, but those jokers start moving when you’re not paying attention and next thing you know, laundry detergent is spilled all over the floor, at least that’s what I hear anyway.
Persil can be found at your local Walmart, and its liquid form is called the Professional for a reason. It’s one of the most affordable concentrated forms of laundry detergent that I’ve had the chance to use. The cleaning power that I’ve noticed from it is comparable to much pricier detergents – to me at least. I love knowing that I don’t have to spend a ton to get quality results. In a society where we as women are still sometimes seen as the doorkeeper to all things domestic, it’s nice to know that I have Mr. Houseful here with me to handle the laundry, and willingly do so. Now, if I can just find a chore that he hates to do, that I don’t mind. Until then, I’ll just have to keep making him great meals.
