Black History Month – It’s All In The Brain

Celebrations, Children, Reflections

For those of you with children, you will know who this is:

This, my friends, is Alan Powers or  “The Brain” as all of his friends call him on the popular children’s television series – Arthur. And yes, he’s black.

The Brain is not perfect, and sometimes he’s extreme intelligence may bug his classmates, but he’s a great friend and a great character reference for children.

He plays soccer. He helps his parents out in their ice cream shop. He was also held back in kindergarten for crying too much. So he shows that you can still be smart, responsible, athletic, and sometimes not always be the best at something.

Hopefully you are remembering to look outside the Black History Month box and sharing more of the great qualities of book characters, television, and even lesser known inventors, singers, actors and the such.

~Make It A Fantastic Day!
