A Girl & A Goat, Macy’s & Mrs. Houseful

Chicago, Mrs. Houseful

Stephanie Izard and Houseful of Nicholes Girl & The Goat

Yesterday was full of awesomeness. Seriously. I got to meet Season 4 Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard of Girl & The Goat & Little Goat fame. She’s awesome. And funny, and a really awesome cook. She also didn’t mind a ten feet of my fro being next to her awesomely curly hair for this photo op.

Stephanie is the newest member of Macy’s Culinary Council, and she graced the State Street Macy’s with her presence to make dishes to go along with the Flower Show that is taking place there until April 7,2013.

Those three dishes were Water Crackers (made with lots of Flour – get it?) Roasted CauliFLOWER, and Crepes with Spring Salad made with three different flours.

All I can say is, the girl can cook. She has a talent for putting things together that you would never honestly think of right off the bat, like raw aspargus and goat, or cauliflower, mint and pine nuts. Well, at least I wouldn’t anyway.

She really honestly puts me in the mind of Chef Takashi with her sense of humor. Almost reminds me of sitting around on a lazy Saturday afternoon and talking food with a great friend. The biggest takeaway is the fact that she loves cheese and crackers as much as any red blooded American should.

Here are a couple of shots from the day – the others you can find on my Facebook blog page in an album.

I loved Stephanie – she was one of my favorite contestants. Whenever I finally make my way to Chicago to visit you, I want to go to her restaurant! LOL! Don’t you love how I invited myself to Chicago?

Doesn’t it? It was so good, and crunchy, yet full of flavor. We stopped by her restaurant yesterday just to see if I could pick up an order. THAT’S how good it was. Mr. Houseful and I deserve a date night there. Now I’m salivating. LOL!
