Valentine’s Day Dinner: Cheese & Cracker Appetizer

Cooking, Holidays, Recipes

Cheese & Cracker Appetizer

If you tuned in to the Brand Housewives chat last Friday, you’d know that this week, I’m featuring a special family Valentine’s Day Dinner with each course (and one drink) for each day. Today, is the beginning of the dinner, so why not start off with an appetizer?

I figured, I’d keep mine simple. Mostly because I’m not a real appetizers person, BUT, I’m a real cheese lover, and why not share something that was easy to create (no cooking) and a favorite of all of the folks here in the house. My kids, my husband, and I love cheese. I considered throwing some hard salami and prosciutto on there too, but the way my bank account is set up said no.

I didn’t do anything fancy except cut up the quince (the orange cubes on the right side of the platter) and spend about 15 minutes at the cheese counter at Whole Foods Market. I’ve found that they and Mariano’s have the best cheese assortment for a decent price. Plus, the folks that work that area LOVE talking cheese and crackers, and cheese again.

Cheese Platter

On my platter is Pecorino Santa Teresa Cheese Italian Fratelli Pinna (a fancy way to say sheep’s milk cheese) cracked pepper crackers, cranberry and orange goat cheese, pecans, quince, and triple cream french cheese. I could have added grapes, or some meat, but with what we’re having later in the meal, I chose to stay simple.

To make it a bit more festive, I used some Valentine’s Day confetti that I picked up from the Dollar Spot from Target, and spread it around the area. I’m not sure that really mattered, because this entire cheese plate was devoured when I released it to the hovering folk at my little photo shoot.

What’s a favorite appetizer of yours? Do you find yourself going to it often, or just for special occasions? Join the Brand Housewives this week as we highlight Valentine’s Day dinner for our family (or just for our spouses) each day. You have me, Mandi from Chewsy Lovers, Amiyrah from Four Hats and Frugal, and Brandi from Mama Knows It All.

Get your favorite drinkware ready for tomorrow for our signature drink!
