The trailers have been out for a bit, and from what we see, Mr. Incredible is now a stay at home father while his wife, Elastigirl, seemingly brings home the bacon. We see Mr. Incredible doing the usual tasks that society has deemed traditionally for women. You can see the exhaustion on the face of Mr. Incredible, and his surprise at the fact that Elastigirl is desired over him.
Is it jealousy? Probably. But it’s also more than likely a learning experience for him, and a chance for him to appreciate what his wife had to go through as the stay at home parent. I’m pretty sure we’re going to come to a great end during the movie, and I’m anxious to see how they handle it.
The Incredibles sits closely to my heart because of the space that I was in during that time. Nathaniel was four, and I was still getting my footing as a mom. Yes, four years later. I loved the dynamic of this superhero family, and that very real issues were brought to life on an animated level. Pixar has made so many films that are close to my heart, and I’m not ashamed to say that. I do love what they are doing with animation, and I can’t wait to take my kids to see Incredibles 2 since THREE of them weren’t even born when The Incredibles came out.
In INCREDIBLES 2, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose super powers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
