Who is this person?! I got dressed up and took photos! WHAT?
Listen, the backdrop of our weekend getaway was so fantastic, that I decided to take advantage of it, and photograph a moment that I felt cute. Mr. Houseful did the honors, and did quite a fine job, I might add. This ankara maxi skirt
I haven’t sewn clothing for myself in quite a bit of time, and this post isn’t an exception. This time I tapped into the talents of Adrienne Nixon to have this made. I’ve made a version of this skirt that’s shorter, but the way my attention span is set up these days, I couldn’t see myself following through after ordering the fabric.
This skirt has pockets too. I just felt the need to share that.
I love how much room I have in the skirt, and the fact that I got to pair a chambray shirt with it. Do you know how long I’ve been wanting to find reason to pair a chambray shirt with a long, fabulous skirt? Months. This skirt may have started a movement with me, and I may end up going ahead and creating several more for myself soon. Before you ask, no I will not be making these for anyone except my littles, so if you want to order, you can always check out Adrienne’s store.
I paired the skirt with a belt that I picked up from Target – along with the chambray shirt. It’s a buttoned notch belt and perfect for a tying outfits together so that you can look like a fashionista. My husband questioned the addition of it, and you may too, but I like it, and that’s all that matters.
I’m not a full on jewelry wearer either, but I do like little trinkets, especially if they pay homage to my city. Imagine my surprise when I found this necklace that shouted that I am a Chicagoan loud and clear. This necklace has the latitude and longitude of Chicago on one side, and a simple Chicago on the other side. I love it.
Hopefully, I give all non-fashionistas a desire to get out of their pajamas at least ONCE this month, just like I did. Oh, and that fabulous manicure that I have came from Sevva Salon in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. The color is OPI’s Miami Beet, and it’s fabulous.
What are you all wearing these days? Don’t worry, I’m going back to pj’s and fluffy socks soon since the temperature is dropping, but each time I wear something as fabulous as this, I can’t say that I won’t share it.
