Thanks to DriveShop for providing the Houseful a vehicle loan for a week to facilitate the fun times we had!
I love all of my babies, but it seems that Sir Twizzler is the only one that voluntarily stays with me when everyone else wants to leave. I’m cool with that. I love that someone enjoys my company so much, they don’t mind spending five full days alone with me. That’s him. He also happened to pick a great week to stay. Mor Mor Baby took the girls, and Nathaniel always has school.
The reason that we ended up going out so much is because I had just lost my uncle, and Sir Twizzler was “really, really sad about mommy not smiling.” We “needed to get out have some fun, and take pictures in our “new” car,” which is what they call any vehicle loan we have. You should really hear them explain the entire review process to strangers. It’s hilarious.
Anyway, we got the Mitsubishi Outlander SEL Touring in Diamond White Pearl for a week, and hit the big city roads. Our first trip was to the Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview, Il. It’s a great little spot to take your littles if you’re ever in the Chicagoland area, and need them to have time to run off a bit of energy.
It’s also the spot that I saw the fantastic camera that’s used to assist in backing up. It gives a real time view of your surroundings! Mr. Houseful and I spent a bit of time one night looking for all of the cameras on the car. They are very well streamlined into the body of the vehicle. The multi-view camera system is an optional addition, so you don’t HAVE to have it. I’m actually pretty awesome with parallel parking, because I’m a true Chicagoan, but I’m also easily amused. Take that as you will.
This was a day that we spent alone, since everyone was out of the house, but on Saturday, he demanded that his daddy join us in a visit to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (which you know is a favorite of ours.) We looked at frogs, butterflies, and turtles, and pretended to be moles too. It was one of the best Saturdays that I had with Sir Twizzler.
I love his eyes. He always seems to be fully immersed in whatever he’s paying attention to. He stares with such intensity. It’s impressive. He let me know that he also liked being able to have the back seat all to himself, even if he had to sit in his silly car seat. Talk about being obvious.
We did end up getting the girls back, and took a day trip to pick up some things, and test out the back trunk space. It was the only issue that I had with the car, as we are a LARGE family, and grocery shopping, or errand running where I would need quite a bit of storage space couldn’t be done with the three musketeers. I did like that the second row was adjustable, and we could fit the teen in the third row if we needed to.
Features of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL Touring include: 8 way Power adjustable driver’s seat with seat back pocket, black roof rails, all wheel drive, 6.1 inch touchscreen display, FAST-Key passive entry system (GREAT when you’re carrying a sleeping child, and can’t fumble for keys) and a myriad of other awesome things!
All in all, a great car for driving around your city, especially if you have less children than we do, that way, you get full use of the fold down third row for trunk space. It took me a moment, but I realized that I drove this car a couple of years ago, and didn’t realize how much space there was if I played around with formation. This model that I’m driving starts at $27,495 with the SEL Touring package coming in for an additional $4000, which is $1,250 less than it was last year. Imagine that, the price DROPPED! If you’re heading to the Chicago Auto Show this month, make sure to check it out at the Mitsubishi area.
