Today, if you’re happening to watch television and see a commercial with a lady with BIG HAIR screaming because Harry Connick Jr. is at her front door, you’re seeing me. A couple of months ago, the Louisianan born crooner showed up at my front door to spend a little time with me and the houseful (minus Nathaniel because he was being a responsible high schooler.) To say that I was floored would be an understatement. To say that I was humbled pretty much covers it. The day was full of surprises that I can’t share until everyone has had a chance to see the show, and because I WANT you to see the show, I’m definitely not going to share!
This trip also marked the first time that the lower trio flew, and I’ll definitely have some tips for that. They were a pleasure on the plane, and the Ladybug was even able to chat up a passenger (who I thanked) the entire way to New York City. That passenger then in turned thanked me for having a child that wanted to “put up with her conversation” the entire way there. I know that many of us who travel OFTEN lament the issue of chatty airplane passengers. It was nice to see the situation in a different light. Which means I’ll attempt to be a bit more cordial on flights. I’m going to learn from my daughter.
Okay, back to the Harry Show. I met so many awesome people – his production staff is the best! So warm and inviting, and they have quite a bit of experience chatting it up with kids. We were able to meet Candace Cameron Bure and a very special guest who I’m embargoed on. It took all of my Godly control not to ask for a photo. I have manners y’all. A whole lot of them. HOWEVER, this guest spoke to the ladybug and lil’ miss for quite a bit of time.
I will say, I’m proud that my homeschooled children were able to have the experience of the Big Apple. Totally said in sarcasm y’all. They travel. A lot. We at street meat from the Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th Ave. They were able to walk midtown and comment on all the things that made NYC like Chicago, and of course the opposite “The streets have GARBAGE on them mommy!” Nathaniel commented on how much the area of NYC that we stayed in looked like Chicago. Gosh, I want to go back.
All in all, it was a GREAT time, albeit too short, and now I want to go back. Find your the station that Harry will be airing on, and what time (St. Louis starts at 9am!) by going HERE . I appreciate all shares, and DVRs and congrats today. It was really nice being invited, and an even nicer surprise to have Harry Connick Jr (and his baby blues) hanging out with me for a moment. My dreams of the talk show circuit are just being realized! His set is GORGEOUS and his band is BANGIN’! Like, I legit could have just listened to them play for the rest of the day.
That’s enough from me. Watch the show, and let me know what you think!

That is so exciting that your kids got to go backstage on a tv set and to actually meet the show host. Kuddos to Mr. Connick.
