Full Of Words Wednesdays – What’s In My Phone

I’m actually loving this part of the week a lot more than I thought that I would. For those of you joining me for the first time ever, I’ve started taking a weekly look back at my phone photos ever Wednesday and talking a little bit about them. I’m sure that you all know that snow is falling all over the country these days, and I happen to love it. I know that so many people hate the snow, and hate what it does to travel time etc., but I happen to love it, even when I’m out driving in it. What I DO NOT love is the fact that so many people attempt to drive the way that they would if it was dry outside. Slow down people. You’ll live longer.

Also, the #DayofLight movement was last week on Wednesday, and oh what a movement it was! I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the day, but it was such a GOOD feeling. So many of you all shared stories of dealing with depression, and how seeking help was in fact one of the best things that you could have done. I am still riding high on the fact that we are a part of something beneficial, and we are the bright lights in this world.

I tend to do very odd things throughout my long nights of working. This was one of them. I still love it. It reminds me not to take myself too seriously, and to find beauty in all the mash-ups of things that I may come into contact with; including myself. Plus, this here creation has just enough sassiness to make me happy.

The Chicago Auto Show kicked off last week, on Saturday, and Mr. Houseful and I were able to go to the media preview days to check out all of the great cars before Chicago descended upon McCormick Place. I took the time to sit and enjoy a Rolls Royce because, its a Rolls Royce. I know that I probably would never be able to afford one, and if I were to fall into large amounts of cash, I’m not sure that this would fit my personality. It’s big and full of leather, wood grain and other doodads. It’s GORGEOUS, but so not Mrs. Houseful. I won’t lie, it felt super wonderful to sit in.

I’ve seen this hallway five times over the same amount of days. It’s amazing and tiring. But I’ve been getting my steps in each day, so there’s that.

This kid. I’m not sure what I can say. He’s hilarious. He’s stubborn. He’s inquisitive. He’s mine. ALL. MINE. His hair is also a point of contention among us both. He hates getting it combed out, and I have become a bit frustrated with coming it out. I do want to loc it up later, but for now, I’m loving his afro, and ringlets that come along with it.

Usually, pictures of the girls during church happen. This time, Sir Twizzler and I were cheesing it up. I am pretty happy to say that for the majority of the sermon on Sunday, he sat {fairly} quietly and reserved, and we were able to enjoy the sermon without interruption. Oh, and hey, he was wearing ALL dress clothes to service. Usually he’s the SUPER casual kid, because of his lanky body type.

Sometimes you just have to love the snow. Literally, draw love into it.

So, ever since watching The Mind of a Chef , featuring David Chang, on PBS during the wee hours of the night, I’ve been craving ramen. During a late night sewing session, one of the ladies on our hangout stated that she wanted some Top Ramen which reignited the desire to find a bowl. Mr. Houseful and I have been going on date nights to ramen spots in the city, and so far, we’ve hit Strings in Chinatown and Union Sushi Bar located in downtown Chicago. So far, Strings is winning, and I can’t wait to try more. I will definitely do an entire blog post about it when I figure that I’ve found a for sure top 3. These photos are from Strings, and the top photo is my pork belly ramen, or Tonkotsu Ramen with Kuro Buta (pork belly) with Mr. Houseful getting the Shio Ramen with Turkey.

I end on the note of appreciation. Sometimes the blogging community can be cutthroat. SOMETIMES. It’s pretty competitive, and there are a lot of us. I feel that sometimes I close myself off to true friendship because I do not want to deal with having to smile on the outside when I’m not feeling it on the inside. However, this young lady and I hit it off immediately (but only after I had a HUGE misunderstanding from an email she sent me back in the day.) Some of you may know her from The Peanuts Gang. She’s Samantha, and she’s no longer a “blogger” in my book, or even my friend who is a blogger. She’s simply my friend Samantha, and I totally dig her. And she’s also rocking out a weight loss system that she created that fit HER. I love it, and one of these days when I can drag myself out of bed and find the kick in the butt that I need, I’m going to give her a run for her money.

Also, I’m not sure if anyone has cared to notice, but my right eye (in this photo, it’s the eye on the left side of my face) is SO clearing up, and it’s doing so with the help of charcoal soap that I was sent from Lia Naturals. I’ve been searching for a soap that wouldn’t be an irritant and a drying agent at the same time, and I’m pretty confident in saying that this is the one. My right used to be black. Literally. I had skin that was always irritated and I couldn’t wear my beloved eyeshadow for fear of having to give myself a three-week rest in between applications. I wore makeup on Sunday and there have been NO breakouts, no scabbing (yes, it would break out and then a new layer of skin would grow. It was yuck, to quote Lil Miss and the ladybug. I’ve been using the soap now for a little over two weeks I think, and I’m seeing amazing results for all of my problem areas. My ring finger on my left hand, along with the pinky and middle finger since they touch the rings. I had a horrible patch on my right wrist that is now all but cleared up as well. Another problem area was my stomach around my navel, and that’s almost clear too! Yay for small businesses that actually DO what they say that they do! I’ll definitely be making the investment in myself more in the future. As a matter of fact, I’m off to order more charcoal soap. I do so wish that I could do the scented, but I’m afraid to try.

So, what’s in your camera phone? Check it out and smile a little.

Make it a fantastic day!
