I’ll admit. I’m bad at Wordless Wednesdays because I have a hard time letting the picture speak for itself. I’m not a professional photographer, so I don’t feel too bad. Mostly I like telling you all exactly what was going on in the background, or the reasoning behind the picture.
These photos don’t really need explanation, since they are of my current hairstyle, but the fact that my mommy (yes MOMMY) did it might require a background story.
About a month and a half ago a friend on Facebook tagged me to a post with this hairstyle in it.
Upon first glance, it looked like the back of my head with an intricate braided design. Alas, it’s not. It is a hairstyle from Rasa Salon and provided much needed inspiration for what I’m wearing now. I may be a natural hair wearing woman, but I HATE traveling with my natural hair out. Mostly because the grimy TSA always rummages through it like I’m carrying the twizzlers in my tresses.
So, usually, I end up asking my mother (Mor-Mor) to braid my hair up and she does. We did end up changing the front of my hair though to more reflect who I am. 😉 I hope that you enjoy!
How do you think that we did? I happen to like it, and I’m rocking it still! I love my mommy!

Lovely! The front basketweave braids look great, but I really, really adore the back!
Mrs. Houseful says
Thorn,
Thank you so much! The back is what made me fall in love with the hairstyle at first sight. Whoever is the originator of this style I would love to thank! So elegant, yet easy to keep up, although I’m not sure about the ease of doing it! Thanks for coming through!

Hey Mom…Way to go… Love the hair!!

Love it. I’m so impressed that a) your mom can do that and b) that your mom is willing to take the time for you – still – to do this. That’s awesome.
And the TSA wha?
Mrs. Houseful says
The TSA searches my hair whenever it’s braided and has hairpins in it. It’s one of those things that I still can’t get used to. I used to wear an afro to keep that from happening, but then they pawed through THAT saying that I could possibly have some contraband hidden in it. :- I can’t win! LOL! Yes, I am indeed very blessed to have a mom that still does my hair – at 32 years of age, I’m not sure too many can say that.
