How We’re Falling for Autumn with Walmart Best Plans

I’m not sure what does it for me more. The drop in temperature, or the ability to wear chunky sweaters, vest jackets and boots, but I LOVE fall. Like if I could marry it I would. It’s the perfect meeting of summer and spring, and everything made in fall just TASTES better to me. I can also barbecue and play outside without sweltering or freezing, so it’s the best. What is making THIS fall even better is the news that I am a Walmart Family Mobile Ambassador, and for the next half-year or so, I’ll be sharing how the plans makes our life a little easier, and even more mobile than it already is. I was sent a brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 with unlimited talk, text and data/web to test out, and what better way to put it to use than in homeschooling? I’m one of those parents that uses tech with their children, so it’s no surprise that the twizzlers and the ladybug can navigate their way around my phone with little to no help from me or Mr. Houseful. Instead of fighting it, I decided to embrace, and what a wonderful thing that has led to.

As many of you know, we’ve been actively homeschooling this year, and for the most part, everyone is happy. The kids even wake up ready to learn. One of the things that we have been focusing on this last month and the first week of October is the life cycle of the apple, and all that it can do. The kids love learning new things to do with apples, and their apple projects that we’ve been completing. The entire unit commenced with a visit to the apple orchard (along with a pumpkin farm), and maybe some apple donuts being made at home, if I can get up the guts. Using the Galaxy S4 to keep the kids engaged AND to keep a visual account of all that we are doing has been awesome.

The way that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has been integral in this homeschooling venture is allowing me to be able to find things to do WHILE out, and being able to search on 4GLTE service. Even with a plan that isn’t contracted, that’s possible, and important! We did go to the Farmer’s Market this past weekend, to snag some apples for all of the great apple recipes that we will be making this month, and we also decided to visit one of our favorite libraries (because one of our favorite librarians Ms. Regina works there) and find all of the things that represented fall. Thank goodness they decorated, otherwise my ability to think on my feet would have been activated. I gave each of the kids the phone to take photos of the things that they felt represented fall, and I was pretty surprised with what came about. By the way, the Samsung S4 is not the only phone available on the Walmart Family Mobile Plan. You can also get the Samsung Galaxy Exhibit from Walmart for only $99.88 and right now the LG Optimus L90 Smartphone is $149.88 (on rollback from $179.88). If those don’t fit your taste, there’s a plethora of phones that will suit your style and budget. We’ve added this phone to our arsenal with their $34.88/month for Unlimited Talk, Text, and Web for the life of the account on the plan.

Lil’ Miss’ hands are seen in the top photo taking pictures of the larger than life leaves that were on a bulletin board. Sir Twizzler instead found books (he’s definitely my child since he marches to the beat of a different drummer) and asked me to take a photo of it with the phone on top. Let that sink in. His choice was because all of the trees are losing their leaves, and he thinks that we need to plant more. He’s obsessed with leaves, and them falling has him worried, or as worried as a three-year old can be.

The ladybug instead asked if she could take a photo of Shelly the turtle. Since she knew that Shelly couldn’t survive outside for very long with dropping temperatures, she said that her being in the library and taken care of by the librarians represented fall as well. I’m not going to knock her way of thinking, but it looks like we’re going to have to put some animal habitat and seasons units on our plans.

Fall for me represents the time to do more baked goods. Caramel apples, pound cakes, cupcakes, and stews. Being able to google recipes when I need them is pertinent for my very busy mind. Let’s not mind that apparently my fingers type faster than my brain processes, and I have to be corrected by google on spelling.
