People. This is a BIG DEAL! D.W. Read is turning FIVE years old on Monday! ARTHUR has been on the air since I was a senior in high school, so we know how old she SHOULD be. LOL! Ahem. I do love that Marc Brown has insisted on keeping the characters of his hit television show ARTHUR the same age, so that children for years to come can enjoy the antics of the Read family along with all of their friends in Elwood City. Given the fact that DW has been in preschool since I’ve known her, I’m REALLY excited to see what this change of age does to her character, and how she handles a tough situation when celebrating her birthday.
Everyone’s favorite witty, smart, and pesky little sister is turning five on May 29th! PBS KIDS’ ARTHUR is premiering an all-new one hour special, “D.W. & the Beastly Birthday.” ARTHUR has been on the air for 20+ years, but this will be the first time D.W. advances in age!
In the new special, young viewers will learn a valuable lesson about handling disappointment as D.W.’s birthday celebration goes awry and she runs away to the magical island of Ukubonga. Meanwhile, Arthur skipped D.W.’s birthday party for a school trip to the planetarium and is transported four years in the future.
The special will premiere on PBS KIDS, the 24/7 channel and streaming platforms on May 29th, with an encore showing on June 2nd. Additional new episodes of ARTHUR will air throughout the week of May 29th and will be available on streaming platforms in June.
Here are the new episodes and their premiere dates!

My little sister used to watch Arthur, then my kids after that. I thought it was funny that they always stayed the same age so this is cool.
