Chicago Sights: Macy’s Black History 2016

Jurnee Smollett-Bell

Black History Month is in full force, and once again Macy’s State Street is offering everyone a chance to delve into a little bit of the history and celebrity. This year it’s with Jurnee Smollett-Bell, the 2016 Black History Month muse. They’ll take a fun look at the African American luminaries who are pioneering the next generation of activists and style innovators. Be part of the conversation, and stick around afterwards for a special reception where you can meet Jurnee!

Each year, I attend, and it’s always amazing. From learning more about Gordon Parks, to appreciating the journey of style icons in the film industry, I’ve always walked away knowing something new, and being a little more inspired in my own creative walk daily.

Next week, I’ll get to listen to Jurnee Smollet-Bell talk fashion, being black and her new show Underground which is set to air on WGN this spring.

Details are as follows:

Macy’s State Street (Chicago, IL) – February 10, 5:30pm
No RSVP necessary

For those of you in other cities, the festivities start tomorrow and all information and guests are listed below. Try out something new. Until I partnered with Everywhere Society, I didn’t realize that Macy’s had so many events that didnt always center around shopping. Go figure. With homeschooling my little ones it’s nice to bring a little bit of our Black History Future into the discussion and to see them light up whenever we talk about someone that resembles us.
