As you learned today, the ladybug is celebrating turning the big six years of age. While you may not know it – since I don’t blog exclusively about it, we’re huge Disney fans here. There’s something about dressing like the characters, or singing the songs that gives us a sense of comfort. While Doc McStuffins wasn’t embraced first by the ladybug (Lil Miss is the original fan) she does love looking at her and exclaiming that she wants to be a doctor to animals when she grows up! Disney Junior is doing a wonderful job of presenting relatable characters that I don’t mind my children emulating!

I love planning parties for my littles, and usually, I’m the DIY queen, but this year with the move and not really having a spare moment to plan during the summer, I had to depend on the greatness at Walmart to get me through our home celebration this week. I’m glad that I was able to run in for a quick pick  up of all of the party supplies that I would need in order to pull this off seamlessly. There was a plethora of pink and purple branded items, and it made coordinating the party super easy. I was able to grab coordinating napkins, tablecloths, cups, utensils, centerpieces and even a banner, and it didn’t break my bank! Walmart also had a great selection of Doc McStuffins themed toys to choose from and it was pretty difficult choosing which one to get for the ladybug. We ended up with Doc McStuffins themed Operation game, and a Scrubs dress up package.

I did have to get a bit creative with the ideas for food, and I decided to draw on the colors and the themes that pop up most in Doc Mcstuffins, which happens to be bandages! We had apples, because an apple a day keeps the doctor away, and deep turquoise cupcakes with bright purple frosting, along with graham cracker bandages that the kids loved. Letting things like the napkins, cups and plates tie everything together is what made this a very easy party to bring together.

My best tips for planning any character themed birthday party is doing a bit of research (not extensive, but still, some.) See what you have in your pantry first, and work from there. I had blue cupcake mix and red icing that I used to put the hearts on the “bandages.” I also had a cupcake tower, and chalkboard labels for the table. After my run to Walmart, I had everything else that I needed to tie the event together.

Using the premade centerpieces also kept me from going a bit design crazy at a time when I couldn’t really afford to. It’s been madness with moving, and I think for a moment, the ladybug thought that I was going to forget about her. The smile that she had was awesome.

I love the spread you created for your daughter's birthday party. Love the Band-Aid cookies! It all came together nicely with your celebration supplies. #client

I hope she enjoyed her birthday party. You did a great job on the Doc McStuffins theme. The bandage cookies are too cute.

Love it!!! My daughter is also having a Doc McStuffin and Zebra print party on Saturday. I bought her party items at Party City but I will look into Walmart to see what they have.
