Appaloosa Bag by Sew Sweetness

Pattern Review, Sewing

Appaloosa Bag Pattern by Sew Sweetness

Guess who has unpacked enough of her sewing supplies to actually sew another bag? That would be THIS GIRL! I was called on to pattern test for Sara from Sew Sweetness, and I’m always impressed with how she grows in each pattern that she creates. This time, it’s a shoulder bag with an accordion style front pocket. I omitted the inside zippered pockets because I just didn’t have time to find a zipper. Remember, I haven’t unpacked ALL of my sewing supplies just yet. Yes, I’ve been in this house for ten months and still haven’t done that. Do NOT judge me.

This was a straightforward and easy sew, but I decided to make it harder by using a heavier weight denim. You know, because it’s like I have an industrial machine.  I don’t. I learned that when I sewed this bag up. I learned that I’m hardheaded, and that I love the challenge of being able to get through something as thick as heavy duty denim, soft & stable, lining, and another layer of interfacing.

This front pocket is wonderful! I love the two sections for easy cell phone retrieval and a place to put my keys so that I won’t have to dig into the bottom of the main compartment. I will say that I had to deconstruct a buckle ring for one part of this, because I once again haven’t unpacked all of my supplies, and I wasn’t stopping to go to a JoAnn’s right in the middle of sewing. You know you wouldn’t stop either. Something about being focused.

I can’t explain how good it feels to actually get back in front of my sewing machine, and I really do appreciate being able to still pattern test. I think that this should be done and ready for sale in the next couple of weeks, but until then, you can see some of the other patterns that she has available on her website Sew Sweetness. I’ve tested lots of patterns for her, and look forward to checking out more of the ones that I haven’t! You should also take some time to look through her annual Pursepalooza entries. I was a participant two years ago, and I absolutely enjoyed the entire process. Leave comments, and enter to win fun prizes! Until then, happy sewing.
