African American Bloggers You Should Know

Blog Love

African American bloggers you should know.

It never fails, blogging produces lists, and lists produce questions. Lots of them. When you bring the exclusion of certain races into question, then you are walking a fine line between truth-telling, and an ongoing discussion that make lots of folk uncomfortable. Well, I’m here to tell you that there is no reason to be uncomfortable, just aware. When I started this blogging journey almost four years ago, I didn’t realize that black people weren’t represented like we should be. I mean, with our buying power from all things hair, beauty, home, style and for our children, you would think that we would be a highly sought after group for PR and marketing firms. African American Bloggers are a group of individuals that are constantly overlooked when it comes to blogging “best  of” lists and all too often people feel if there is one, then the list is complete. We’re so much more than that.

We’re moms, dads, wives, husbands, students, doctors, teachers, and INFLUENCERS. We talk, people listen, and it’s time to be recognized for it. Do I want to be separate? Heck no, but until we are included, we’re going to have to be inclusive! Plus, how are you all going to find greatness if we never share each other with you. One of these days, the world will be the accepting place we want and need, and we won’t have to look for the ONE lady to represent, or the ONE person of color to represent, or the ONE insert another minority type here to represent.

Did you know that our racial group is set to spend $1.1 TRILLION in 2015? TRILLION people! That’s a lot of influence!

Do I still have you? I really hope that I do. Today, I’m sharing African-American bloggers you should know in general. We’ll cover the span of everything my list will always be updated as long as there is breath in my body.  If you have some that you want to share with me, leave them in the comments WE WANT TO GROW!

Look at this! Two totally different awesome lists in two days. Brands have no excuse now. And wow, I’ve got some reading to do!

I also noticed Black Girl Long Hair’s new baby blog has a list going as well.

It’s about time something like this was done.

    Thanks for putting this together.

I definitely agree that to have as much spending power as we do, African-American bloggers are overlooked when it comes to big opportunities and making influential/top blogger lists. And if we are included, I feel like it’s often for the sake of having that token Black blogger. I don’t feel like a lot of companies go out of there way to really check us out and get to know us to find out what we can offer them and how we can be of mutual benefit to each other.

Friend, you are amazing. This box is too small to list all of the ways. Thank you and Brandi for shining light on what sometimes feels like dim efforts. WE are here! WE are not to be ignored. Recognize us. There is a lot being offered.

While I have a loooonnng way to go on my blogging journey and am still learning how to navigate through this identity crisis, I can’t help but feel honored to be on such a list. I am always surprised by all the bloggers that I have yet to discover. I cannot thank you enough for bringing them to my attention.

I have a few to add. I’ll come back to do so.

I can’t wait to see how brands respond…or not.

It would be an honor to be featured here. I love blogging but often find myself wondering where is the representation of other women of color in the blogging community. Glad to have found this! I keep it humble and love making new blog buddies, so if anyone is interested in linking up, LET’S!

Hello! I thank you for compiling this list, as it can be quite exhausting trying to pin point bloggers if you are not familiar with their sites organically. By chance do you have a list of Chicago Bloggers?

I appreciate your help. Love your site.
