My First Craft Swap!

Celebrations, Sewing

Hey there HoNey’s! I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything that I’ve done in regard to Houseful of Stitches, but with the holidays right around the corner, my sewing machine is getting a LOT of love!

Last month I signed up to participate in a Fall/Halloween Craft swap on a blog that I was made aware of called Pink Stitches. You should check her out. Her work is phenomenal. Anyway, after wracking my brain on what to make, I thought why not go more of a theme where it could be used throughout the rest of Autumn, and why not make it fully practical. So I sewed a fabric basket. Basically, something that I would LOVE in my own craft room to store my notions in. I figured if I made something that I would love as someone who sews, maybe just maybe my swap partner would love it too.

This was my first time working with batting, and I think that I like it. It’s expensive as all get out though, so I am thanking the Lord that I decided what to sew just as JoAnn Fabrics was having a killer (get it?) holiday sale. I got the package of batting for five bucks instead of the normal ten.

And here are all of the stages of the fabric basket:

I do think that I will end up making quite a few of these for myself – er – the house, soon.

I love the way that these fabrics (also from JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts) came together, and I really love that it’s not too Halloween-y. I’m more of an autumn person myself, BUT I loved how these colors jumped out at me! It also didn’t hurt that they were in the remnant section either.

Tell me, do you make projects for the seasons or the holidays? What are some of your favorites? Share with me!

Awesome! I love that basket. Swaps are so much fun. I loved doing craft swaps on Craftster.org before my blog took over my life!
