Illinois State Fair, Seattle's Best, A Carful Of Nicholes

It's State Fair Time!!!!

Illinois State Fair

This Friday, the Houseful is going to transform into the Car full of Nicholes and head on down to Springfield, Illinois for the Illinois State Fair. While we're there, we'll probably gorge on elephant ears, cream puffs, something fatty that is coated and deep-fried, and last but not least, enjoying some great showdowns including but not limited to overeating and Seattle's Best #RedCupShowdown.

The Illinois State Fair starts on Thursday, August 8 in Springfield, Illinois and Friday is going to be a special day because it will be a chance for our family and some of you (you know you want to come) to check out some Illinois residents, giving it their all in a showdown of grinding proportions! Jeff Mauro of Food Network fame will be hosting the showdown, as well as offering iced treats to fairgoers alike.

You can check out the finalists from all over the country who have submitted their best recipes of these coffee concoctions on the Seattle Best Facebook Page. There are lots of great pictures of contestants and links to their drink creations. They ALL look so great and refreshing. Especially the ones made with lots of caramel!

Visiting the fair is going to be a bittersweet moment for us. Next week starts the official start of school for the cellist, and I have to admit to having a seventh-grader.

I will also admit that this will be the first time that I have ever gone to a State Fair, even though I hear and read about them all of the time. I'm really looking forward to eating, eating, and eating some more (and yes, I'm still doing P90X, but I won't tell my body if you don't) You can follow my adventures on twitter at @NatashaNicholes and even tweet out to @Seattlesbest

I'll make sure to take plenty of photos of all the great stuff that we try, and I may even psych myself up to get on a ride or two. Who knows?

Come join me, won't ya?
