Houseful Of Stitches: My Journey to Business

Sewing

It’s almost official! We have a new business name, and I’m moving forth with my customized sewing business. I will say, this has been a whirlwind of a journey and I’m loving every minute of it.

On twitter, I call myself a homegrown sewist, because in many ways I am. I learned how to sew on my machine – my husband’s machine by viewing videos on You Tube and just jumping in with both feet. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve surprised myself, and now, well, I’m making nursery sets, and outfits for people that I never thought I would EVER be in business with.

Here are a couple of shots of a nursery set that I’m doing for a mama down south. She picked beautiful fabric, and it was a joy creating these items for her.

While I’m still working on my photography and display of each item, I am THRILLED with the way that they came out, and with how much fun I am having creating. Usually after a couple of weeks I get REALLY bored with something, and can NOT keep up with it. Not with sewing. It allows me to go to a place that is calming and controlled. I think that’s my inner control freak coming out.

I am enjoying taking orders as well, because it allows me to still stay at home with my little ones – and my bigger not so little one, and be AVAILABLE. That’s a big deal these days.

So, for anyone who has purchased from me, THANK YOU and for those of you who will be customers in the future – I appreciate you!

~Make It A Fantastic Day

Thank you. I was going to go with pie, but I figured the natives wouldn’t get it.
