I’ve been sitting on this post for a while. Mostly because my house is always in a state of disarray when I think to take photos of the trifecta playing with these.
I received this block set from Guidecraft several months ago to review, and I felt that with the new school year coming up, now was as good a time as any.
For children who love building things, or who are going to preschool, these are fantastic! I love the old-fashioned wooden blocks from my childhood, and I also love the fact that they are large enough not to lose all over the house.
First thing first. They come in a boxed package that includes a bag for easy cleanup. Best. Thing. Ever. It’s nice that these blocks don’t have to find themselves strewn at the bottom of a toy bin after play AND that they can be transported on vacations and play dates very easily. I’m all about bringing things that my children love with us on day trips, vacation and to family members homes, but I HATE when they are not easily transportable. HATE. IT!
I also love the fact that these blocks are super easy for small hands to handle. The Twizzlers may almost be three, but they still look like they are about one and a half years of age by size. They can easily manage these blocks and manipulate them in a way that is pleasing to their little imaginations. I’m not often called into the fold to help balance things unless one child happens to be taking over ALL of the blocks.
Sir Twizzlers favorite thing to do is to build a tower as high as his little hands can manage and then knock it down with the greatest sound effects. Lil Miss loves lining them all up neatly and then rearranging them until it fits her fancy. The ladybug enjoys creating towns and stories behind each piece, and has even created names for the ones that she deems appropriate to represent people.
These blocks aren’t put up on the shelf in this homeschool family, and often times I find myself wanting to use them for a more rigid educational experience, but I like the fact that my children are loving them in the exact ways that they are.
And you know that I ALWAYS love sharing great things that I find, so I’m here to offer you, your very own set as well! Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below, and you’re all set!

Your family is adorable, I mainly see your posts via fb though. I love that you weren’t afraid to post honesty in regards to the trayvon martin/george zimmerman trial. My son would love this set, It would go great with his angry birds.

I love blocks and don’t believe there is anything better for a child than basic wooden building blocks and time to be “bored.” I would love these to have on hand for the grandbabies. (ok, we just have one grandson so far but I can hope that out of our 6 kids, we will have at least one more EVENTUALLY.) In the meantime, I can play with them too. I find block play to be a type of meditation I suppose. I enjoy it and it often frees my mind to think of bigger thoughts, better dreams, and answers to questions.
