It’s Wednesday, and time for me to pick up the What I Wore Wednesday posts again. While I am getting out of the house more this summer, it’s normally in construction gear, so I’m sure you don’t want to see that. Besides, it’s all pink for the most part, and dusty. I will do one before we are done with our house, construction, but that will be when I’m almost at the end of the process. Right now, as part of a #TargetColors group that I am in, I’m showcasing some of the great items that I picked up from Target and paired with other things. I’m LOVING nautical inspired things a little more lately, and when I think about it really, I’ve always loved sailor suits for my kids. I know, I know.
While on a trip to finish out my daily steps, I asked Mr. Houseful if we could go into the nearest Target and walk around. Oh, stop it! You do it too!!! When I came across this skirt, I immediately checked my Cartwheel app to see if there was a discount, and there was. An extra 20% off. Paired with my 5% discount with my red card, I was in the zone. I was super good with this too, since I only picked up one of the maxis. The other had stripes that were horizontal, and I don’t like those as much. Shomari stated that I could make this if I wanted to, but the truth of the matter is, I didn’t want to. The stripes are perfectly matched, and I had this great blue blazer that I purchased from Target about 7 years ago. It was a divine plan.
I’m not a huge jewelry wearer either, normally only opting for wedding rings and that’s about it. However, on this day, I paired a great necklace and earring set from Her Favorite Boutique with the outfit. I got plenty of compliments on the set all day and I felt good about the choice of them.
By the way…did you know that Payless is currently having a BOGO sale? That’s where I snagged my THIRD pair of DexFlex comfort shoes last week, and I finally snagged them in the blue and white stripe that I’ve been coveting. I wasn’t keen on paying the $30 price (I KNOW, I’m so cheap) but I picked them up on sale AND for half of the sales price thanks to the BOGO promotion going on. Just $10 for a comfortable pair of flats for my chicken breast feet – you know, because they’re WIDE!
When Mr. Houseful saw this combo together, he thought that maybe I was overdoing it with the stripes, and maybe I am, but whatever. I felt cute, and I felt put together for once. I’m also feeling super short as well, so I may have to find some wedges to go with this outfit so I don’t tear my hem to shreds walking around. One can only pull the waistband up so high before it becomes a maxi dress.
I’m not sure if blue will become my color of the summer, or if I will live in maxi skirts like I think that I am, I just know, that I will photograph myself each and every time I feel put together, because it doesn’t happen nearly as often as I would like. I’m also participating in the Summer Of No Pants where while we vow not to wear pants, we will be donning skirts and dresses that we purchase or make. I’ll mostly be making mine, but as this deal was too good to pass up, I am wearing a purchased item for my first post.
Until next time, be well!
