My eShakti Poplin Dress is Poppin’

My eShakti Poplin Dress is Poppin’

Let’s pretend I’m a model today. It’s fun. It’s almost Christmas. I will have my wish. Today, I’m modeling the eShakti Poplin Bow Belted Dress in yellow, and I’m feeling kind of snazzy. You don’t know this, but at this point in time, I was also feeling kind of cold. It was 6 degrees in Chicago, and I braved the elements for a photo, and a promise. I promised eShakti that I would model this dress someplace other than my house, because that’s not cool.

To be fully honest, I receive SO many compliments when I wear this dress, and I feel good in it. If you don’t know about eShakti, they are an online store where you can customize any of the items that they sell. This particular dress was customized to fit my fun sized height, and linebacker back, which is courtesy of my mom’s side. We’re awesomer for it, and will fight you in your face if you say anything otherwise.

I’ve worn this dress a total of three times since receiving it, and I’ve worn three different styles of shoes with it. Usually, I go full COGIC (Church of God In Christ for those of you wondering) and deck it out with bronze shoes and accessories. In THIS photo, I’m wearing the warmest of winter boots that are white and gray, and bring no matching quality to the overall look of the dress.

Can we talk about pockets? And how every dress should come with pockets? Pockets need to be standard. Especially in seam pockets. They don’t take up any real estate on the dress, and they are convenient for putting tiny things in them. If you’re not a holder of things, then just stuff your hands in them. As I’m demonstrating in these photos, and not because I’m cold.

I call this pose, the kids are destroying the car, we need to get back to it before it flips upside down. Don’t worry people, they were in that area right behind the tree, and the oldest was there with them.

I haven’t paired this with a blazer or sweater because I’m running hot these days, but I do feel that a blazer would look AMAZING with this. The belt is removable, and I’ve worn it backwards before because I’m a rebel, and I like the bow that it has.

I picked yellow for review because I love the way that I look in it, and I tend to stay earth toned in my wardrobe in general. I altered the dress for a boat shaped neckline, and a hem that stops directly on my knee. Did I tell you how much I love the fact that it’s customizable? It really works for those of us who can’t buy directly from the racks without having to head straight to a person to alter them. I am that person, but I digress.

The modesty of the dress is awesome too. As mentioned above, I’m Pentecostal, and when we go to church, we love covering up. Mostly. I’m actually doing well today because I’m wearing stockings. Small steps. Seriously though, eShakti is probably one of the better places that I’ve seen where you can get a uniform feel that doesn’t feel so, sterile. And colors! Colors everywhere! There’s nothing wrong with being cute while worshiping.

You can follow all of the awesomeness that is eShakti on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

I am in love with how this looks on you, and because it's a photo shoot, I won't yell at you for your not wearing leggings and a sweater with the dress in this weather. I've been eyeing items from eShataki for quite a while now, and this may be just the push I need to give them a try (after baby comes). In the mean time, I'll meander over to the site and get some ideas.

No worries, my coat was on the arm of the photographer, and I had on stockings, it just doesn't look that way. LOL! Thanks for coming through.
