Brielle Market Bag | Thread Filled Thursdays
I'm a lover of large bags, and Farmer's Market visits, and when they combine, it's like I've stepped into Wonka's Chocolate Factory and been told to do what I want. The Brielle Market Bag by I Think Sew, begs for the use of a large print outer fabric to show off colors, or geometric shapes. I know that large bag lovers draw a very hard line about whether they want print or solids, but none that I know ever want boring tiny prints. Ever.
The main goal for this bag was to have it used as a shopping bag for groceries or your jaunts to outdoor or indoor markets throughout the season. One of the things that I hate the most about reusable bags from stores are the fact that you can't wash them. So in the case of spills, or even worse, meat leaking, you have to throw the entire thing away, thus making it NOT reusable.
Just six pieces of fabric to sew up, and this beauty only takes me about an hour start to finish. I don't include taping and cutting the pattern out anymore, because some folks are faster than others. This is a HUGE bag too. Two feet wide, and a foot and a half tall without the handles. PLENTY of room for all of those goodies that you are certain to pick up on a day out shopping.
It calls for quilting cotton, but you know me, I love changing things up. I used home decor for the outer fabric, this one being an OOP Jessica Jones Outside Oslo print, with quilting cotton for the lining. And guess what? NO INTERFACING! If you're worried about the integrity of the bag you can double stitch all seams, or serge them.
Granted, you don't have to use it JUST for groceries, but there's something about loading up all of your food items into a bag of pretty and walking out. So many compliments, and questions like "where can I buy something like that?" abound. Sewing simple things these days seem to be getting me through rough patches of thought and introspection. I'm just a regular thinker and sewist around these parts.
The good news is. I'm making these for sale. They will be priced at $45 plus shipping, and you can purchase after I make. I'm trying not to do custom orders on these because it takes too much time to wait for fabric if I don't have what you want in stock. I love this bag! I love large bags. I like the ones that will hold a lot of stuff. This one definitely qualifies in that category. It also looks sturdy. That's a huge plus.
This is a perfect market bag that can used over and over. The fact that it can be washed is awesome too. I love how big it is and that you can carry just about anything in this bag. Well done. Thanks for sharing this awesome reusable market bag.
Oh now that is an awesome bag, I love how colourful it is, I do try and take reusable bags when I go shopping, but I am awful for getting them whoops!

The Brielle Market Bag would be perfect for me because I have four children. We have to bring several bags with us when we go places or even just to go outside. It's ridiculous, really! I could use a large-sized bag like the Brielle Market Bag! I think it would help eliminate the number of bags we have to bring. Lol
This bag is cute. I really hate plastic grocery bags. I would need two because this girl child would be all over my bag and we would fight. Can't wait for when they go on sale.
I love a bag with pockets and this one is very convenient for store rewards cards. The color also makes the bag cute and trendy. In dc they charge for bags so making your own really comes in handy in my area.

I always use reusable bags for shopping. I'm going to have to check these out when you start selling them. I know I'll get a lot of use out of one and I love that it's large and roomy.
