Run, walk, and play and support new families across Chicago
In a fun day that welcomes families to run, walk, and play, the Neighborhood Parents Network (NPN) presents the Strollers First 5K & Festival Sunday, September 15 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at The Park Level at Lakeshore East (411 E. Benton Place., Chicago, 60601).
Proceeds from the event support NPN’s mission to provide families everything they need to navigate parenting in Chicago, including trusted resources like the online discussion forum, child care search, school search tools, expectant and new parent programs, and parent education.
This 5K puts strollers front and center with a beautiful view of the lakefront and the marina. Early-bird runners begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by stroller runners at 8:35, and stroller walkers at 8:40. All participants start by 9 a.m. Adult registrants receive goody bags with free passes from Little Beans Café and Purple Monkey Playroom, a free class from The Dailey Method, a gift from Building Blocks Toy Store, a free app from Playground Pointers, discounted race day parking from Magellan Development Group, and more. Race capacity is 500 registrants.
The event also includes a free Family Festival, hosted by Melissa of The Mix 101.9FM. Fit4Mom-Stroller Strides offers a warm-up show and stretch at 8 a.m. Family Festival activities run from 9am to noon and include a bouncy house and a performance by Mr. Singer & the Sharp Cookies. A lakefront Kids Dash takes place at 10:30 a.m., with awards and a performance by School of Rock at 11 a.m.
