This summer has been quite the busy one for the Houseful. Honestly. I can’t remember doing more, with seemingly less time ever.
So far we have hung with the minions from Despicable Me, met Ty Pennington (Mr. Houseful, the ladybug, and myself) and we’re still gearing up to do more. With trips to the zoo, and various Chicago museums thrown in there, we’re slated to have one of the best summers as far as tackling our own city!
Well, today, I had the opportunity to check out a new cosmetics line opening today at the downtown Macy’s – Big Girl Cosmetics. The “official” launch will be this Saturday, July 14th at the Chicago Downtown Macy’s store from 1-5 pm. While you’re there, check out her Vava Bloom line!
Kiley is an amazingly easy person to speak to. She started her business from seed money that she received from selling the car that she won on the Oprah Winfrey Show (by the way, yours truly was on that show as well – it was SURREAL!) and hasn’t looked back since.
She was already creating body butters and the such for friends and family, and turned that into a successful business in the Hyde Park area of Chicago. It’s a spa. And from what I’m seeing, it’s a great one at that.
The color payoff of the shadows are great for women of color – which they should be, since they were created with us in mind. It’s nice to see that creasing, fallout and chalkiness weren’t a large issue with those colors. I also loved the gloss. Not sticky, and super moisturizing without the stickiness of other glosses. The fact that it smells like Big Red chewing gum doesn’t hurt either! The shade that I tried was the Cashmere, and I think that I may end up purchasing it for keeps.
All of the makeup is prepped to be compatible with those of us with sensitive skin,
Don’t worry if you don’t live in the Chicagoland or surrounding areas (she has her line in four Macy’s) you can always visit Macys.com and check out her line there.
The prices won’t give you sticker shock, and you can easily treat yourself to several things in each shopping trip. I know that I’ll be picking up a couple of the lip colors, since I’m trying to fix this skin of mine that’s dealing with atopic dermatitis.
All in all, I was pleased with everything that I saw, and I’m looking forward to going back and being able to purchase.
~Disclosure~ I was invited by Macy’s to attend the media viewing of Big Girl Cosmetics. This is not a compensated or sponsored post.

I’m such a makeup junkie but right now I’m on a quest to find the perfect lipstick. Nothing to sticky or shiny but with nice color and moisturizers. Thanks for the review.
