Lately, it’s been very hard for me to feel stylish. With weight gain from both the birth of the ladybug and the twizzlers (yes – three babies in five years) and just not feeling like myself, I haven’t had the gumption to try and dress appropriately either. However, with my profession, and HAVING to go out to events, I do need to look presentable, no? While most people love power suits, and things like that, I’m still a bit of a tomboy at heart, and love my jeans. If I can dress them up, that’s even better. Today, I’m sharing a pair of those jeans that I was sent for review, from Lee Jeans, and telling you why I love them so much.
I’ll be honest right now, and tell you that I had a preconceived notion that Lee Jeans were “mom jeans” of sorts for so long. I had the chance to attend a party last year to get me acquainted with the brand, and now, I’m showing you a pair that I love! I’m even going to go out and tell you that I’m now the proud owner of six different pairs of Lee Jeans, and I don’t have to hide! Okay, now that I’ve confessed that, let’s give some background, shall we?
These Lee Jeans happen to be the Petite Platinum Label, Naturally Slimming Verona Straight Leg Pants (say that three times fast) in black retro, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them for reasons. Yes, for REASONS!
First of all, they’re PETITE! These did not have to be hemmed, or rolled, or cuffed, or pinned at all. They fit my fun sized legs perfectly.
They are super soft. I’m not sure what I expected from denim, but when I took these out of the package, they were a bit shiny to me. So when I tried them on, I didn’t expect them to feel as soft as they did.
Speaking of putting them on, how about now denim dancing had to go on?! You don’t know what denim dancing is? You know when pants actually do fit you, but you have to shimmy and shake them on to get them past the largest part of your rear, OR the widest part of your hips. Yeah, none of that with these.
The fit is wide through the thigh, but not palazzo like (do they still make those?) and it makes them look dressy enough to wear to business casual events and not feel out of place. The inseam also doesn’t come up so far that it makes it uncomfortable to sit down for long periods of time. Oh, come on! I know that I’m not the only person who has had that problem with the inseam being too high. If I ever get to the point of where I can make pants, I want them to be just like this.
In this look, I’ve paired them with a yellow tank, a grey thrifted sweater, and thrifted Steve Madden yellow leather pumps. I also grabbed a mustard yellow purse that I got from Target some years ago to accessorize. I may have also borrowed Lil Misses yellow and black hair accessory from Easter earlier this year. It’s all rounded out with pearls and a silver three ring necklace.
Can I say that I love that I can take this look from business casual just by changing out the jacket and purse? I have a brown leather jacket that I could put on, and I could totally go out on the town with Mr. Houseful and look cute and comfortable.
I even had the courage to take a photo of myself from the backside, well, because I NEED for you to see all of it.
Long enough to cover the heel, but not so long that it looks like I have horse hooves or hoofs (depending on your preference) and totally ruining a fabulous outfit.
I really like that I’m not out of my comfort zone either. I don’t feel like I’m playing dress up, but I do feel GOOD to be dressed nicely, and ready to see anyone. I don’t have to duck or go errand running on speed because of possibly being stopped.
It makes me proud to represent myself, my brand, and my family looking like this, and I think that’s what one should look for in clothing. I want to be comfortable, but cute. I also don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for what I’m wearing either.
This last photo is dedicated to my sistergirlfriend Raijean from Swa-Rai Blog. I always tease her when we’re out and about together because this is the pose I almost always remember seeing her do when I didn’t “know” her. She nudges me a little bit in the fashion department and even got me to buy PINK LIPSTICK! *faints* That’ll be another post another day. So, what do you think? Yes or no? Did I do well? Tell me about it in the comment section below!

Thank you so much Sylvia! This fashion thing can become a regular if a girl lets it! I’m having fun stepping out of my normal sweats and tees in the name of a job! Thank you for coming through AND commenting. I love reading them all.
