Macy’s Culinary Council: Chef Tom Douglas

Family

Macy’s Culinary Council has done it again! This time with Chef Tom Douglas and his recipes for the perfect baked goods just in time for the holidays.

On Thursday, November 29th, Macy’s State Street hosted Chef Douglas in the lower level where he treated guests with fresh savory baked goods from his new cookbook Sweetness In Seattle (you see what he did there?!), that was available for purchase after his cooking demo.

I will say that Chef Douglas is quite the storyteller. During his session, I was pretty interested in hearing him talk about Julia Child’s and her love of Hellman’s Mayonnaise with her crab, and Jacques Pepin singing his rendition of My Funny Valentine. It’s not that his food wasn’t spectacular, it’s just that it was paired with some of the best stories of chefs who I love to watch and learn from.

While I know that I’m a food lover (even though this blog does not reflect just how deep that love affair is) what I loved the most about the entire event was the amount of time Chef Douglas took with fans while signing his cookbook. I listened to him give a couple of kind words to a mother purchasing the cookbook for her daughter who was in college. Very heartfelt.

So, if you’re still looking for a holiday gift, and you know that your recipient is a baker – or maybe needs a little more help in the kitchen, you should check out Sweetness In Seattle. I’m sure the thanks will be very satisfying!

I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere provided me with compensation for this post about Macy’s Culinary Council.  However, all thoughts and opinions expressed herein are my own.
