Remember who the real enemy is. This is something that rings true in this installment of the Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire. Once again, we’re connected with Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Haymitch as they try to figure out their lives as the three lone victors of the annual Hunger Games, and just forget about all of the torment that they went through just months before.
Unfortunately that isn’t the case, and we are then thrust into a deadly game between Katniss, who represents the hope of the people of Panem, and President Snow who represents all that they loathe and fear.
I highly recommend that people read the books that movies are based on because they usually don’t do a very good job with translating that well on to the big screen. While I do feel that The Hunger Games did stay pretty close to the storyline there were still little nuances that they didn’t quite get, yet I’m okay with it.
This turned out to be a great date night for Mr. Houseful and I (we once again went to the midnight showing) as it was a way for us to get away for a bit. To once again revel in the books that we put down almost three years ago. I do despise the fact that we seemed to sit in front of the entire group of individuals who had no idea what the heck was going on since they didn’t bother to read the series. I would have been totally okay with it (I’m a purist, but not horrid) had they not talked through the ENTIRE THING! So of course we have to go back to see it again and catch some of the commentary that we missed the first time around.
Overall, I LOVED this movie just as much as I did the first installment. The costumes were GLORIOUS and Elizabeth Banks did a spectacular job as Effie. I’m still Team Peeta, and Katniss is still the person that I kind of love to hate. She has so much to deal with at such a young age that you kind of feel bad for her, but then again, you wonder if ANY kid should spit in the face of authority as much as she does…and then you come to my blog to read how to do it. 🙂
What about you? Have you seen it? What movies have you seen this month? Stay tuned this weekend to see two more suggestions that I have for you!
