Sometimes You Have To Encourage Yourself

Chicago, Fashion, Mrs. Houseful

So this happened on Thursday.

I decided to try a new hairstyle. It came out SUPER funky the morning of. Like so funky that even Mr. Houseful looked at me startled when I climbed into the passenger seat on our way to drop him off at work.

A little part of me wanted to go back in the house and try again. Mostly because it wasn’t something that I felt comfortable in.

I even messaged my tribe, a picture of me looking not impressed. Kind of like this one:

 Not Impressed

No, EXACTLY this one.

It takes a LOT for me to put myself out there with the intent of looking okay, and not. I’m TOTALLY okay with being goofy on PURPOSE, but if I think that I look cute, and I don’t, well then, we have a problem. However, after some pep talks from a couple of great friends, I decided to rock it even if I didn’t FEEL it. And then ended up doing an impromptu photo shoot in the water closet of Mr. Houseful’s job. Yeah I did. Hair

Now let me tell you a couple of things that changed from the passenger’s seat of the car to the mini photoshoot in the bathroom of a company. First, I walked around the mall by myself for three hours. I bought a new bra from Jockey. I purchased a tea from Starbucks, and I also got samples of perfume from Sephora. Each place that I stopped in, someone complimented me on my hair. Seriously. And my first reaction was to say

“Oh, but it’s not what I wanted!”

And that would have been okay, because initially it wasn’t. It’s the REASONING behind it that was stupid. The curls were too weird. My hair is too thin. Ugh, it didn’t look like this on HER head.

By the time that I made my way down to the MAC store, to look at lipsticks and glosses, I was in full “I feel pretty” mode.

It’s amazing what little things will make you feel awesome.

As if THAT wasn’t enough, I went back to have lunch with Mr. Houseful after my mall escapades, and when he came out, he stopped, smiled and asked – “What’s different about you? He NOTICED that the walk had changed, and that my swagger if you will, was in full force.

My lips weren’t BRIGHT. As a matter of fact, it was a nude. A pretty little nude called Hug Me topped with Viva Glam V and the wonderful liner. My brows weren’t waxed, my makeup wasn’t done, but my lips were sensual, and I had a new bra to hold the girls up, and I felt cute from the bottom of my feet to the top of my curl topped head.

Seriously. Throw on a pair of big shades and rock it with your bad self!

Because you deserve it.

And last week was crappy.

And it was hot.

But most of all, because you are so worth it!

~Disclosure, this is not a sponsored post. I mentioned the above stores because I literally went to them all. I had no kids, no husband and time to spend on ME. More posts like this will be forthcoming.

Good Lord are they! It was nice, and I’m pretty sure that I owe Mr. Houseful a lil’ something. 🙂

I was completely going to say how you looked SO much happier with a smile, and for some reason it made your hair look more “you”, too – that make sense? I think so. 😉 Rock on, friend!

Smiling definitely helps. After I looked at it all weird in the mirror, I realized that I was already on the road, and couldn’t change a thing, so I rocked it. 🙂

Ooh, shopping! Bring it on! I like it when I’m not really in the mood to buy, then I find TONS. When I PLAN on it though, it’s a wrap – I get nothing.
