Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise Of Skywalker – What You Want to Know

Disney, Entertainment

Did I ever tell you that I’m not a fully versed Star Wars fan? Nope? Well, I’m not, but after two days immersed in a galaxy far, far away, I can totally understand WHY the fandom is as large as it is. It totally happened to me while viewing the very first trailer for Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Aptly named a space-opera in definition, the number of people waiting with bated breath to see the end of this beginning of the end of this saga was proof in the pudding.

First of all, we didn’t have a title to this film coming out on December 20 of this year, and THAT was all anyone could talk about. They even swept me up into the conversation. After the release of the trailer, everyone had a ton of questions. Was a popular villain coming back? WHICH Skywalker was rising? Why is Rey so amazing? What adventure will the gang be going on? Who does Finn finally get with? It was quite the conversation during the morning panel here at Star Wars Celebration. Well, folks, I have some answers for you – I think – and they may make you happy. I think.

The Rise of Skywalker

The official title – The Rise of Skywalker was revealed during the morning panel and the crowd erupted. Not only did we hear Luke’s voice, but the maniacal laughter of Emperor Palpatine? But, he’s dead! OR IS HE?! The journey happens together with Rey, Finn, Poe and newcomer Jana set off on a mission TOGETHER – as JJ Abrams emphasized – and they’ll have some help from old friends. Yep. Billy Dee Williams will be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian, because as he stated: “Lando never left me.”

What Else to Expect from The Rise of Skywalker

I’m not sure. Given that I have quite a bit of homework to do to get properly invested in the franchise, I’ll be keeping up with the trailers and sneak peeks for the next 8 months. But I will say this, Star Wars may have garnered another fan, simply because of a trailer – and the celebration here in Chicago was nice too. I’ll share more of the behind the scenes of that in a later post. Until then, may the force be with you.
