When I Laugh, I Cross My Legs #Underwareness #DropYourPants

Thank you to Depend for facilitating this very important conversation

Listen here good people, I have some information to share, and it ain’t gonna be pretty. Did you know that more women today are experiencin bladder leakage BEFORE they pick up their AARP cards than not? I didn’t either until I visited my doctor for an appointment and let them know that I was having a hard time recovering from my pregnancy with the twins. I mean, it’s normal to have to run or waddle quickly to the bathroom while you’re seven months pregnant with two children, right? How about when they’re almost four? Do you think that it’s proper to still be doing.

Once I realized that I was still doing the leg cross with a full bladder, and that I was among the 23 million Americans under the age of 45 doing the leg cross, I had to get it handled. For me, like so many other women, ligaments loosened up during pregnancy to make sure that I could carry my precious cargo properly. Unfortunately, it didn’t snap back and now well, I pee a little when I sneeze, or cough, or laugh. But of course that’s only when my bladder is full and believe me, I try to make sure as much as possible that it isn’t. Because – DUH – crossing your legs looks REALLY weird in public when you’re standing, or walking, or standing on a bridge watching fireworks with your husband. It’s just ugh.

If I’m going to have to wear an entire incontinence panty, it might as well be comfortable, right? In steps Depends Silhouette for women. They’re for those days where you’re having a bit of trouble. For me, it would have been right after I had the twins. Oh goodness, the amount of times I prayed that nothing happened after our c-section and me sneezing, or coughing, or laughing. Let’s just say, there was a lot of prayer going on.

Was I ashamed when it first started happening? Of course, but now I know that there are a LOT of women and men that are in the same boat that I’m in, and that there is a great product for them to use. They control odor, and are made of a cotton like fabric so you get the feel of real underwear and not like you belong in a crib with your children or grandchildren. That’s important you know.

To further help with this issue, Depend is donating $1 up to $3 million over the next three years to charities that advance the research and education and awareness of bladder leakage for every shared photo or video of a pant drop using #DropYourPants and #Underwareness.

So now that we’ve gotten the uncomfortable blog post of the week done and over with, how about you go and request your Depend Free Sample  and see if you can get through your day without that awkward leg crossing. No one will believe you’re practicing yoga poses anyway.

This is such a great campaign that Depend is running! It is amazing how many people suffer from incontinence, and that it does not just happen to the elderly. I'm so glad this campaign has started people talking more openly about bladder leakage.
