BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER just dropped the first trailer and the houseful is super emotional. With the loss of Chadwick Boseman, Ryan Coogler’s vision executed by the cast and crew will be the proper send-off for the actor who evoked such a strong emotion from millions of Black Marvel fans.
Here’s some background from Comic-Con where the trailer dropped first.
BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER” capped the Hall H presentation to thunderous roars and applause, beginning with a live performance by Baaba Maal (vocals), Massamba Diop (tama), and dancers and drummers. Feige was joined on stage by director Ryan Coogler and cast members Mabel Cadena, Michaela Cole, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Tenoch Huerta, Florence Kasumba, Alex Livinalli, Lupita Nyong’o, Dominique Thorne, and Letitia Wright for a Q&A and first look at the film’s first trailer, which is now available to download and share.
In Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira), and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli.
You’ll remember that I had the pleasure of attending the World Premiere of Black Panther way back in 2018 (what is TIME?!) and the feeling of being in the room with so much talent, but also realizing the history that was being made was a bit surreal for me.
I know it’s not cool to wax poetic about Hollywood these days, but I’m going to do just that because the world is on fire, and this brings me joy. Art in this form that mixes grief and action and a cinematic experience that will leave me wanting more is just what I need. I’m pretty certain millions of other folks need it as well.
So, take a look at the trailer and join me as we count down to the second installment of greatness. After you’ve wiped your last tear, share in the comments what you’re really looking forward to seeing on the screen.
BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER hits theaters on November 11, 2022.
