Well, well, well. I’m stepping out for the We Sow, We Grow Project and opening our gardening doors for those of you who want to learn a bit more. It’s a group on Facebook in which you can ask questions and possibly participate in live videos more often than not. While we’re still in training over this way – it takes a LONG time to become a Master Gardener y’all – we’re sharing what we learn, and loving it!
If you’re interested in learning more about the We Sow, We Grow initiative, you can click the tab above, or find us on Facebook, Twitter, or join our Facebook Community. If you’re in Chicago, you can even stop by the garden one of these days for a hands on approach to gardening within the community, AND in your own backyard!
By no means do I claim to be a master gardener (yet), but I do know that I have a passion for growing food, AND learning about it in the process. My mistakes will save you from making your own. So, stay tuned each week to see what I’m learning or sharing, and make sure to join the Facebook group to ask your own questions, or show off your own goodies! We’re a supportive bunch, and we love seeing what everyone is growing in different zones. Like those folks down in
Case in point about learning as I grow. We grew watermelon last year! It was our second year trying, and it was the most delicious watermelon I have every had the pleasure of eating. If you grew one, you’d say the same.
We also grew all types of greenery, tomatoes (22 different varieties), squash, peppers, and whatever else you can think of. You also see me in the middle of the bed of corn that we grew. All 132 ears of it. I was SO proud of this garden, and the connections that we made in the community. We made strides in a new community, and it was all from the planting of a little seed.

That is amazing. I love community gardens. They’re such a great way to get the community together and for everyone to get back to nature. That’s something that too many people don’t do anymore.

That looks absolutely amazing! I wish there was a lot more community gardens out there because I think that if people are more active in what they eat they will be aware of what is healthy and what is not.

Wow, what a gorgeous community garden. I think this is amazing to get people out gardening to eat fresh foods.

I love gardening and always enjoying seeing and hearing about other’s gardens. Yours is absolutely amazing — I’ve grown many veggies and herbs successfully, but have never been able to bring a watermelon as gorgeous as yours to maturity. Here’s to a great summer of fresh air in your garden.

Community gardens are a great way to provide fresh produce to those who don’t have access. I can’t wait to read more about your garden.

Eating something you have grown tastes so much better than store bought. I went ahead and voted for your community garden. I hope it wins the grant.
