The Dr Is IN: Doc McStuffins Comes to Chicago’s Navy Pier

This weekend, the ladybug, lil miss and I headed down to Chicago’s Navy Pier to check out Disney Jr’s Doc McStuffins #DocMobile. The initiative was So Much You Can Do…To Take Care of You.It was an awesome day with an awesome event, and the girls really enjoyed themselves. The lines were long in anticipation of seeing the Doc Mobile and meeting all of the real doctors on hand to answer questions from young and old alike. Not to mention the fact that it was SUPER hot out there!

To kick of the start of the second season of the Disney Jr. series, a 27 foot Airstream Trailer with four doctors stations was parked at the end of the pier, allowing all of the cities future doctors to come in and do check-ups of their favorite toys, animals and other friends.

Not to be outdone, the ladybug and Lil Miss Twizzler gave very thorough check-ups to the dolls on hand. Carfefully checking their weight, height, hearts, reflexes and blood pressure, the doll got a clean bill of health and was cleared to go to school.

The fact that they had lab coats in the correct sizes made me squeal with joy!

We spent quite a bit of time in this mobile unit and I had to make sure to get the girls out so that the other people in line could partake in it.

There was also a hydration station, where all of the young doctors helped to keep Lenny hydrated. Let me tell you something. I kind of wanted to dip my entire head in the station because we ALL needed to be hydrated that day. The great thing was when they were finished with the station, the kids got to get their very own Doc McStuffins water bottles, and Disney Jr. supplied ICE COLD water to fill them up with. Great planning on their end.

Before leaving, we were afforded the opportunity to interview some wonderful doctors, and the ladybug had some very important questions:

Doc McStuffins Doc Mobile Navy PierLadybug: How many years did you have to go to school?

Doctors: After high school, I stayed in school for 11 MORE years. Four years of college, four years of medical school and two years of residency.

Ladybug: Do you go to the doctor when you get sick?

Doctors: Yes, everyone should go to the doctor even if they are one!

Ladybug: What kind of doctors are you?

Doctors (L) I’m a pediatrician, so I see children like you and your sister everyday! I’m a family medicine doctor (r) and I can see anyone from your family on any given day!

I also went on to ask how they teamed up with Doc McStuffins and the Disney Jr. programming, and they let me know that they are part of a society of doctors named the Artemis Medical Society. More than 2500 women doctors of color make up this society and they are in all areas of the world!

The second season of Doc McStuffins starts on September 6, on the Disney Channel! Guest stars will include the talent of Geena Davis, Jeffrey Tambor, and Molly Shannon to name a few. And don’t you fret, the doctor will be in more cities in coming weekends!
