Today, I celebrate three years of marital bliss. Mr. Nicholes and I have been an item since he was 14 and I was 13 years of age. I’m sure that in my dad’s head he really didn’t see this as a union meant for marriage back in ’94. I’m sure in his head, he saw some mannish little boy a little too interested in his oldest daughter. Thank God he came around and treats Mr. Nicholes just like one of the family. Now, Mr. Nicholes can’t wait to treat the ladybug’s boyfriends with the same type of ‘welcoming’ atmosphere. 🙂
Ahhh, the memories.
What can I say about Mr. Nicholes? He is my bestest friend, lover, supporter, drawing board, and voice of reason when I veer too far off of the path intended for me. While the journey to get HERE was arduous and sometimes filled with frustration, teen angst, teen pregnancy (good LORD wait until I post about THAT one) a break-up, a death of a sibling, a reconnection, a proposal and then a wedding that led to our happily ever after – it is one that I would CERTAINLY take again because it allows me to spend every day with the man who loves me unconditionally and who I love just the same. It is amazing to see someone that you literally saw grow up before your eyes and know that they are there for you for the long haul.
Today’s anniversary was low key since I was just discharged from the hospital yesterday, but I have a promise from the Mr. for Texas de Brazil the week after next, where we are going to celebrate as if it is the 19th of October – because, well, shouldn’t everyday feel like the day that you got married, just magnified?
I think that we’re a pretty smart looking couple. Even if half of our pictures, I’m preggers. I’m going to enjoy this day and the next several decades that the Lord is going to bless me with to be with him. We’re claiming 100 years! Living each day like the newlyweds we are!
~ Make it a good day!
