Like Sands Through the Hourglass, So are the Days of Our Lives

Happy New Year! Well, it’s here. 2016. I could say the same things that so many people have in regard to this year. I can’t believe it’s 2016, it seemed to sneak up on us so fast, blah, blah, blah. But the honest thing is, time really IS flying by quickly, and it scares me how fast years seem to ease on.

Happy New Year from Houseful Of Nicholes

I seriously get all misty eyed when I think about the fact that my children are way older than they should be. Seriously, the Twizzlers are FIVE. The ladybug is SEVEN and Nathaniel is FIFTEEN! Fifteen years of age, and so close to college that he can taste it and I am fearful of it.

My honey and I celebrated eight years of marriage, and 21 years of being an item, and well, I still feel like the 13 year old that he met so long ago. It’s weird how time treats you. As a kid, you can’t wait to become and adult and do all of the adulting that you see adults doing. Then you become and adult and realize that you want to do all of the kidding that you see kids getting to do. Don’t get me wrong, being an adult has so many perks, but being an adult that still knows how to kid around is one of the best things I learned in 2015.

I laugh out loud more, and I detach myself from people who try to shush me.

I’m walking more in my activism this year. It may not be as loud as some, but I’m doing it.

My little quirks will be embraced full force.

My unabashed walk with Christ will also be front and center. Too often, I’ve found myself trying to accommodate folks who don’t want to accommodate me. I’ll still walk in grace, but my convictions will still be my convictions.

More living life on purpose. Life is meant to be lived. Everyday is precious, and I’m going to do my very best to remember that for the next 366 days of the year.

My word of the year is EMPOWER. I want to empower my readers and empower myself. I want this blog to be a place of comfort, a place of learning, a place of laughter. I want to empower you all to take on those new things with fervor and excitement. I want us to learn together. To grow together. To make mistakes together, and to discover together. You’ll see me doing some different things, and sharing in different ways. You’ll see my family more (even the teen! YAY!) and more ways of me earning income through my blog. You’ll read about social activism through Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross and other places where I volunteer my time. I want to share it all.

Most of all, you’ll see my grow, and I hope that you’ll stick around to see the end of 2016 with me.

Empower is a good word. I'm glad you are laughing more because I love your laugh! =) I hope that 2016 is an empowering year and that you are surrounded by people who love and embrace you (and never ever shush you). =)

What a great word: EMPOWER. I also want to live more on purpose this year. I have a two year old and want to treasure every moment of my time with her at home. I love that you will be embracing your quirks! I think that's something I'd like to adopt as well! Why not celebrate what makes us all unique?
