Digital Style: Raved App

Later this week, I will be attending a fashion show to start off a SUPER busy week of blogger duty. It’s kind of weird for this to be my JOB, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. One of the things that caught my eye for the fashion show tomorrow is an app called Raved, which combines aspects of Foursquare and Facebook (it uses their platforms) and creates a space that totally compounds the ‘raves’ of you and your friends (ravers.)

I will say a couple of things about it. The interface is great. It’s easy to use and it is easy to find your friends and the things that they Rave about in whichever city you live in. If you’re familiar with Foursquare, Yelp, and a little bit of FoodSpotting, you should totally love this app, which is free by the way. It’s sleek and actually pretty attractive – for what it’s worth. I don’t consider myself a full fledged techie, but I do know a good looking and working app when I see it.

The download was easy enough, and the bright green megaphone let’s you know where you should go to put all those foodie photos that you take. Information that shows up when you are all set to put in your post culinary thoughts will be the telephone number, address, and web address of the establishment. Just for clarification, I’m talking more about the food, because that’s the first rave that I put in. One of the greasy spoon diners in Chicago, that I LOVE going to – White Palace Grill. I happened to have the chicken and waffles and I was in heaven. Sweet, buttery, syrupy heaven. So, I became an official Raver, and put in thoughts about the corner diner on Roosevelt and Canal. This is the super secret squirrel headquarters of most of the date nights of me and Mr. Houseful.

The app also aggregates information based on Mayorships in Foursquare, and tips and check-ins from your friends via Facebook and Foursquare. So, literally, you have the best of ALL of those worlds in one snazzy app.

I won’t be leaving Foursquare anytime soon, but it’s so awesome to be able to just view tips left for restaurants, or stores all on one page instead of having to click over like I do on Foursquare.

Overall, this app will stay on my beloved S3 and with the upcoming BlogHer Conference this week, it will get a heck of a workout to really let me know if I need to move it to the second screen.
