This Tuesday, Mr. Nicholes and I were afforded the opportunity to go out – alone – meaning NO kids, not even the twizzlers! My mother rocks by the way. It took us a while to figure out what we wanted to do with our couple of hours of alone time ( I mean, I am nursing, and when nature calls – it CALLS!) and lemme tell ya, it was pretty difficult. We went from going to a chain restaurant like Olive Garden or Red Lobster, to going to dinner and a movie, to settling for someplace close enough to home to get back (just in case) quickly.
After flip-flopping (thanks to whatever politician made this phrase famous!) for a couple of hours, we decided to go to a restaurant called Mundial in the Pilsen area of Chicago. Best decision we’ve made in a long time – when it comes to eating. First, let’s show how we got dressed up – well dressed in more than sweats, or work gear:
I was feeling pretty good – especially to don five inch heels with no pedicure (YIKES) and snow still on the ground. But we thought what the heck, let’s go for it. And I am so glad that we did. There is something about anticipating getting out and reconnecting with your spouse that just does something for the marriage. It was nice to get dressed up, put on some makeup, get out, and laugh like our high school selves for once. Especially at the music that was playing over the speakers in the restaurant. It was as I endearingly called it “The Classics Whistled by Grandma.” Yeah, I guess you just had to be there. My husband flirted with me and I flirted right back. We even stopped for ice cream after dinner. Let’s not even mention the meal that we had. Empanadas, pan fried chicken, lamb with mole and fried green tomatoes, and creme brulee! *faint*
We have decided that it is a MUST to at least go out once a month, just us two, and act like teenagers. I mean, everything that we COULD have gotten in trouble for in our teens is now perfectly legal…… 😉
~ Make it a FANTASTIC day!
That's awesome. Hats off to you for wearing heels. I'm scared.
I haven't had my date night yet… yet 🙂 Hannah is only 6 weeks old though. I love your post pardom body though. Looking good!
Rachelle – as a woman who LOVES her heels, I have to admit, that I was a bit cautious about sliding into these babies after not being able to wear any for over six months. However, it's just like riding a bike.
Sarah – it took us eight weeks! So, I hope you get your date night soon!!! We're planning to do this once a month from here on out. And congrats on the arrival of your bundle of joy!
Love it! Couples need this every now and then. Glad you guys had a great time.
