When Folks Jump In #NaBloPoMo

How do you feel about new people jumping into your life?

This is a pretty loaded question. Seeing as I am pretty guarded with my space – I know, I know, it’s hard to believe that a face and personality such as mine has a death grip on life in such a way as I do – it’s pretty easy to answer the question with ease.

Irritated.

Yes, ladies and gents, I usually get pretty irritated with people jumping into my life because it means that I have to be open and vulnerable. When those people are likeable, it’s even more irritating to me.

Let’s face facts here, people will let you down in some sort of way, shape, form or fashion. Sometimes it’s because you have set the standard too high, and sometimes it’s because they may have set their standards too low. Other times, it’s just because life happens that way, and we have to live with it.

There are loads of people who have jumped into my life from various stages of “me” and they have stuck. Roshini from Glamazini is one of them, okay, technically I jumped to her, but she danced at MY wedding, so I win. Aisha G. from Hartlyn Kids is another, I’m not sure how we clicked – but it was online and she noticed the cellist, and she let me borrow her husband to MC my wedding, so I win there too. I also have Denise from How Mama Got Her Swag Back – her ability to be able to get one to crack a smile under stress through her computer illustrations is epic. Epic I say.

I think the gist of my irritation would be less if my sister were still here. I find myself put off by letting another gal get close to me, mostly for fear that we will create this fantastic bond, and upon waking up one morning, they’ll be gone.

However, the longer that I live, the more that I learn that this is all part of LIVING. It’s a part of being the best individual that I can be. Creating these relationships and fostering them to create a foundation that even if they do have to leave me someday, I can go back and look on what we’ve built together.

Let’s not even go into guy pals jumping into my life. That would take an entire week to blog about, and seeing as I have turned into a pretty saccharine individual this evening, I’m going to leave it at that.

So, I turn the question on you. How are you with people jumping into your life?

I love this sentiment, so clearly stated: "However, the longer that I live, the more that I learn that this is all part of LIVING. It’s a part of being the best individual that I can be. Creating these relationships and fostering them to create a foundation that even if they do have to leave me someday, I can go back and look on what we’ve built together."

So glad I found you via #NaBloPoMo today!
