Lee Looks

Headband – Boho Bandeau, Glasses – Gant, Shirt – Old Navy, Belt – Steve Madden, Pants – Lee, Shoes – DSW/Restricted

This week’s thread filled Thursday is a bit different. It has nothing to do with sewing, but with threads that I’m wearing.  Specifically, as many #leelooks as I could manage. As you know, last week Mr. Houseful and I were in Branson for a press event, and it took me a bit of time to figure out what I was going to wear. From weather.com, there was only going to be one super warm day (84 degrees) and the rest of the days would be low 60s. So I figured that bringing every single pair of Lee jeans that I had would be a smart thing to do, and it was.  Mr. Houseful may have laughed at me.

Giving a bit of background on my love affair with these pants. It all started in December of 2012. I attended a party that Night Owl Mama was having showcasing Lee Looks and I fell in love. I was able to get a pair of boyfriend jeans, and a pair of dark stretch denim that are still the most complimented jeans I have. I’m almost ashamed to say how I thought of “mom jeans” whenever the name Lee popped into conversation. You know, the ones with a super high waist and no pockets on the back, so it looks like your butt goes up into your neck? Yeah, they are so not those types.

While I was on my #ExploreBranson adventure, I was able to pair different tops with the jeans that I brought down, and I was always asked about them. This did loads for my confidence level, because I don’t think that I’ve been able to get “dressed” this many days in a row in about a month. Listen, we keep it real casual in our houseful when we’re not going out.

With the look above, I wore a pair of slender secret Izabel  pants and a Mossimo top since it was nearly 90 degrees outside. They are so soft, and they haven’t faded in more than five washings. No dye to go onto other clothes either. I feel sexy without feeling like I’m trying to look younger. These are age appropriate and they are height appropriate, meaning, as a short person, these don’t bunch all up on the bottoms of my legs. They slim me out as promised, and they look so great in this dark color. The shoes are sandal wedges from Old Navy that I got two summers ago.

The jeans pictured above are the ones that I received during the #leelooks party in 2012. They are still going strong, and the most complimented pair of pants that I have to this day. I can be mom, and wife, and hot stuff in them anytime I wear them. So, now that you’re keeping count, you see this is number three, right? Good.

So here’s the last pair. I stepped out and got a pair of skinny jeans. I like them, but I’m not sure I love them, and there’s only one reason why. I’m too short. That’s it. They weren’t tight, they weren’t uncomfortable, but just too long, so they “skinny” aspect didn’t translate well with gym shoes. I figure when I dress this pair up for a date night out with Mr. Houseful, the addition of heels will lengthen the pants and not gather so much at the ankle.

And just so you know, the jacket is a Christmas gift from Poppy (my dad) and the shoes that you see – those bright orange ones, are the active shoes from Old Navy. The purse is the Daytripper bag by Dog Under My Desk .

I’m slowly trying to get my “fashion” on this year, and to show how you can get around town in clothing. Hopefully this encourages someone to stop thinking of Lee jeans as old lady jeans, and snag a pair for themselves. I promise you, if you do all of the sizing correctly, you won’t be disappointed.
