Thread Filled Thursdays

Thread Filled Thursdays

It’s BACK! I’m sewing again, and I’m so proud to say that I think that I’ve found my mojo! Well, as long as the temperature stays under 85 degrees in general. I hate the heat, and sewing in hot weather is so not the business. No, I don’t have A/C, so let’s just get that little gem of information out of the way.

This photo shows me wearing the Washi Dress from Made by Rae. I picked this pattern up last year, along with the fabric wit GREAT intentions to make it before the winter season hit us fully. As you can see, that didn’t happen. I made this at the beginning of this month, and LOVE the way it comes together. I did have a bit of a struggle with the shirring in the back, and I may just put elastic in the back seam instead next time. The fabric is Basic Mixologie in plum, by Moda. It’s perfect because it’s hashtag heavy, and duh, social media! I do think that it’s out of print, but I don’t really know. My LQS still has it in three colorways, and I may pick it up in navy soon

I’m trying to get back into bags, and storage specifically. With these next three that I’m making, I knew that I was out of practice, but boy was it fun making them. I sewed the Sew Together Bag by Sew Demented.  It’s a bag that I’ve been looking at for YEARS now, and was not feeling because of the way that it looked. Not that it’s ugly, because it isn’t. It just looked like too much cutting and fussing, and SURPRISE it isn’t! I sat and worried about that for YEARS. Of course, I know that I do need an upgrade in my machine, because of various things, so that’s what’s driving me to start sewing again and selling. Be patient though. I want to do this the right way, and that means having product on hand, instead of always relying on customs. I’ll still do them, but while I am,  I want people to be able to just buy outright. I used a combination of Cotton & Steel Raindrop Fabric by Rashida Coleman-Hale (which I’ve been DYING to get for a bit now) and Zephyr by the same artist. The little clouds have been something that I’ve been loving for a bit of time too. As you can see, I’m behind the trends, but I don’t care. I do what I want!

I then moved to items that I can use for my multitude of pens, and business cards. This time I used patterns from Michelle’s Patterns. The peony pen pouch and the business card holder (which has three different styles) and I’m all set for my conferences! I used the rest of the Hashtag fabric, because I’m trying to do better by my scraps, and the polka dot fabric is from JoAnn Craft Stores. I love polka dots. Love them. The business card fabric is also from JoAnn, and Of course, I’ll be whipping up more of these, because they are definitely scrap busters!

So, what are you sewing, or knitting, or crocheting? Let me know below! Link up to be featured next week! Until then, happy stitching!

The dress looks fabulous with that belt! Do your business cards stay intact in the fabric holder? I'm always worried they'll get crushed unless the holder is really rigid.

The business cards do stay intact in these because the measurements are perfect for standard size cards. I think we would have an issue with the mini cards that I've had before, or the odd shaped versions. I'm going to make two more sizes and see if they do well too.
