The Houseful Does Brookfield

The Houseful Does Brookfield

The leopard was kind enough to walk in front of the glass for us. Amazing that we feel protected by a little piece of glass.

This is probably our fourth visit to the zoo this year alone, and I don’t mind.

We’ve gone solely to see the lions and bears because that’s usually what the ladybug wants to see, and well, life is all about her these days.

This time I was smart though. I packed everything up the night BEFORE and got all the clothes ready the night before as well. Yes, I have four children, and yes I know how to plan, but sometimes the time gets away from me.

The cellist went and tried not to have a great time right off, but by the end of the day he was smiling and laughing with all of us as well.

I also had the pleasure of taking my mother in law along with me, and enjoyed the day.

I have to say, the most popular stop of the entire day was the splash pad, which was rigged to have the sprinkler system powering it, instead of the normal fountain spouts that we’re used to. Every one of my children enjoyed a little bit of time in the water, but none more than the ladybug.

I think that she stayed in there until her dress was sopping wet. Thank goodness for natural hair, so that I didn’t have to worry about having “messed up” hair later during the day.

We also had to go and see the Xtreme Bugs exhibit once more. This time, I was able to enjoy it a bit more since I wasn’t on reporter mode. It wasn’t as crowded as I anticipated, and we were able to go from station to station without feeling rushed, or rushing anyone else.

One of my mother in law’s requests was to see the birdhouse, so we headed on in, and this macaw caught my eye:

So colorful, and literally an arms length away from me and my camera.

I’m learning to listen to that still small voice in my head that says to just go instead of trying to plan to the ‘t’

And I see plenty more Brookfield Zoo visits in the houseful’s future.
