If you were to drop by my home any time during the week, you would know that we are pretty random around these parts. However, our randomness leaves us with a lot of warm fuzzies, and one of these moments happened around tea. Mr. Houseful and I have recently become Bigelow Tea drinkers (I wasn’t aware of my fascination with their Chai ) and he just discovered Constant Comment, so it was only natural that we had a midday tea party with the girls and Sir Twizzler. By WE, I totally mean him though.

When we went to pick up another box or three of Bigelow Tea,  from Target, Mr. Houseful made sure to grab a box to take to work to sip on while he is sitting at his desk, he can easily go through several boxes a month, while I usually drink the Chai while I’m sewing at night.

He was a great sport and even dressed up for the occasion. Quite suave if I do say so myself.

The girls LOVED that he donned a fedora and squealed in excitement as they put on dresses to get ready for their tea. Plans were made, and of course, we had to have snacks. Snacks were important, so we went to the grocery store (read: kitchen) to go shopping for our fare. After we settled on a nice chocolate Cheerio, wonderfully moist cream cheese pound cake, and the freshest grapes we could pick, the ladies and gentlemen sat for tea, which was of course served by dad.

The ladybug had to be the most excited of them all, because she has been wanting to break her ladybug tea set open for the longest time. The size of the set is just perfect for tiny little hands to feel like they are having a full cup of tea. The lovely saying on the set says “Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home,” and was given by a friend of ours from church. We were going to wait for a more formal event to use them, but what’s not formal about tea with dad? The smiles were epic on this afternoon. EPIC I TELL YA! What’s funny is, they always ask if they can have tea. Iced tea, hot tea, tea, tea, tea. We have enough of it in this house to probably open a tea house. We’re like the Buford Blue’s of tea. For some odd reason, I didn’t realize that something so small and quickly put together would create this type of reaction. Scout’s honor.

At first, I was going for just a father daughter tea party, but I couldn’t bear to leave my Sir Twizzler out. The doe eyes from that guy would have just torn my heart to shreds, so we let him join in as well. Although, he opted out of black tie. He did enjoy being able to hang with his older sisters, and for once, them not fussing at him to sit down and stop playing with their stuff. Also note, the camisole straps on those two refuse to stay up.

As a daddy’s girl through and through, it’s moments like this that make my heart swell. I know that everyone isn’t blessed to have a relationship with their father, and I don’t take mine for granted either. Being able to see my girls and my favorite husband form bonds on a regular day in the week over Bigelow Tea lets me know that they will be just fine as well.
