Red Knights, Bright Days #Medieval Times #Giveaway

A couple of weeks ago, the Houseful was excited to attend a showing of knights, falconry, and rivalry at Medieval Times Castle in Schaumburg, IL. We got to do all of this while eating with our hands in a castle.

The ladybug by far had the best time because she received a rose from our knight (pictured above) and he even KISSED it for her. Lucky girl, she is.

If you’ve never been to Medieval times, you definitely need to go. This was everyone in my household’s first time, except for Mr. Houseful. He went in 8th grade and didn’t remember a lot about it at all.

We started our Sunday evening out with Knight’s Training with the cellist. From the looks of it, it did seem that he was the oldest on the floor. It is recommended for boys 7-12 for safety reasons of course (parents weren’t allowed on the floor – from what I saw) and they use wooden swords and shields to follow directions from the knights who are teaching at the time.

After that, we were gathered into the welcome area of the castle to see some young children get knighted, and receive instructions from the Lord Chancellor on how to behave during the Knights of the Realm competition.

It was all very high energy and exciting, and we weren’t even IN the arena yet.

We did also get to take photos with the option to dress up (we declined) and then headed into our seats which were FANTASTIC! We were sitting in the red knights’ section and we were front row. It was an amazing show, and all of the work that these entertainers put into putting on a spectacular event was appreciated. There were various competitions of skill and we were also amazed with acts of horse displays and a very special falcon (who swooped MIGHTY close to our heads.)

Overall, I enjoyed the fact that I could eat with my hands, and scream to the delight of my children. The food was aplenty and so were the thrills!  The only thing that I would suggest is to not bring toddlers to the show if you have to keep them in your laps. Holding Lil’ Miss and Sir Twizzler in our laps kind of kept Mr. Houseful and I from really whooping it up like I wanted to.

If you live in the Chicagoland area and are interested in taking your family to see this show, this is your lucky day!

I have a family 4 pack available for you to win! How exciting is that? Just complete one or ALL of the entry points below and you’ll be on your way. Contest is open to all US citizens 18 years and older but can ONLY be used at the Schaumburg, Illinois castle.

Ready? Let’s go!

I've never been to Medieval Times but I always wanted to go. Maybe next time when I am in the CHI. They don't have one here in the STL.
