Noodlehead Divider Basket: Thread Filled Thursdays Linky Party

Thread Filled Thursdays

So, I missed last weeks Thread Filled Thursdays and our new linky party because I just felt all discombobulated and like I had nothing to write about. Today, however, I’m writing about the Noodlehead Divider Basket pattern.

I apologize up front for the graininess of the photos, I shall explain further into this post.

I’ve had this pattern cut out for a bit of time now, but every time I came to sew it, my heart wasn’t it it. Mostly because I wasn’t happy with the interfacing solutions that I had come up with. I’m not sure why I continue to question interfacing, when I pretty much know what does what, but alas, I did, and here I am.

Either way, I’m happy with the way that it turned out. I used Craft Fuse 808 on all portions of the bag, even though Anna, from Noodlehead calls for interfacing on certain pieces. I like the bag to have more of a structured less foldable look for my house. I’m still trying to figure out what combo I’ll use when I make these as gifts or for my shop. Who knows?

It took about an hour to sew up fully – of course WHEN I got to sewing after my sewing machine shut down on me in the middle of the night. Turns out that it needed to be oiled, and I figured out how to get it done. It involved sewing machine oil NOT WD-40, a wooden skewer and careful aim.

Overall, the pattern insists that I line up my seams properly, and that in itself is like the 8th wonder of the world. Perfect boxy shape, and a divided inner portion with an optional outside pocket.

I did choose to use the fabric covered webbing on my basket, and I love how it ties everything into each other.

And with everything that I love, polka dots finish it off. Do you know what a good polka dot fabric will always make me happy. Then it happens to be green to boot?!

I haven’t sewn randomly for a bit, and this now has me chomping at the bit to make several of something and then stop cold turkey again. I’ll have to figure out what other combinations to make this in, as I’m afraid that I’m always behind on fabric trends these days. It’s the plight of a sewist.

So, there you have it. Now it’s time to share some of your creations! Link up and then blog about it if you wish.

I love that pattern. The fabric, too. Like I said, off to your shop, anything like this up there? I need to tell some friends about your linky, since I'm so un-crafty.

There are a couple of new items Andrea, but I think that I become bored with sewing the same thing over and over. I'm working on that. Please pray for me, because it is my income after all. LOL! Thank you my friend!

As always, I love your sewing projects. The fabrics you picked out make the bag super fun as well as useful. Do you think the bag would work with PUL or Laminate fabric, so that they can easily be wiped clean?

Hey Andrea,

I'm not sure, but you bring a great idea up. Maybe I'll try that out next and see how it works! Since everything is enclosed, and I don't have to worry about flipping anything, it might be easier than I think. CHALLENGE!

I love it! So cute! I have a love/hate relationship with interfacing. I am scared of it & it's a pain in the butt, but then when I actually make something with it I love it.

Thank you! My issue is with the fact that woven interfacing costs my firstborn! LOL! That's about it. I must admit that I love when JoAnn's has their 50% off sales along with an awesome 25% off coupon, because that makes it even more affordable for me. I usually stock up then.
