Macy’s & B. Michael Rock Out!

Last week, Macy’s hosted the fabulous B. Michael in their State Street store in downtown Chicago for a spectacular event featuring live mannequins, great fashion from his America Red line and Ms. Cecily Tyson.

A little bit about his style and line:

B Michael is known for his sophisticated timeless designs and clean aesthetic. The ready to wear collection was inspired by the couture collection. B Michael couture designs are sought and coveted by many socialites and celebrities.

In 2011, B Michael was commissioned to create the costumes for the late great Whitney Houston for her role in the film SPARKLE which debuted in August 2012.

As with any fashion line debuting at Macy’s the colors were bold, and the lines were clean. I especially love how live mannequins were used to show off the great clothing and shoes!

I love a great heel. And the strap adds a little bit of support as well.

Check out his socks!

Support came from everywhere! Ms. Cecily Tyson shows the proper way to strike  a pose.

Shoppers were able to browse the collection and purchase that evening if they wanted. There was a LOT of interest in one particular style of dress…

Several women picked it up and tried it on, and even a couple went home with it to add to their wardrobes. Some even got some pointers from Mr. Michael personally.

The color block trend was brought up to seasonal standards with warm tones for the fall.

The dress on the far right is one that I love. I love the silhouette of it, and the simplicity of it. I would be able to wear this alone or put a cardigan over it to make it more modest. My style!

There was definitely lots of mingling, a little champagne drinking (but not this way – that night) and a wonderful sense of fashion.

From what you see from the models, are their any pieces that stand out for you? I’ve decided I like pieces that can last for longer than a season. Something that doesn’t trend and then die. How about you?
